Mini Youth Games Hockey
Penalty (or short) Corners
New Rules 2015
• A short corner will be awarded to the attacking team
for a foul by a defender in the D.
• This will include the ball being played deliberately
over the back line by a defender.
• This does not replace the old-style penalty for a foul
that stops a certain goal or a deliberate foul inside
the D by a defender.
Attackers
• The attackers can have four players at the penalty corner. The other two
must retreat to the half-way line.
• The ball is placed on the mark near the goal (on either side of the goal)
and the player on the ball must have at least one foot completely off the
pitch.
• The other three attackers stand anywhere completely outside the D.
Defenders
• Two defenders start completely behind the line anywhere in the goal.
• The rest of the team must retreat to the half-way line.
Taking the Penalty Corner
• As soon as the ball is played by the first attacker all
players can move and get involved.
• The ball must leave the D before a shot can be taken
otherwise a hit will be awarded to the defending
team.
• The ball must then be touched by an attacker within
the D as normal to score.
• Shots must be below knee level for safety.
