“We’ve been planning for a couple of

Talking to one of the students - telling
us what she enjoyed most
“They were amazed that they were
given 10 pounds to spend, and they did
think carefully about how they were
going to spend it and they had to rain
their self’s in from not getting lavish
prize’s and really think about their
budgets.”
“You’ve been made to think about what
you can do and offer to a team when
usually you wouldn’t think about that
and its different to every normal,
boring maths lesson.”
“It’s been a bit more fun rather than
going straight into your maths book
and work – I’ve really enjoyed it.”
“I think that I can now give my idea
with out thinking its properly not the
best idea I’ve ever had because
someone will like it!”
“The bit I’ve enjoyed most about this
programme is setting up the faire and
doing everything to get it ready.”

“They’ve been amazing! Set them
selves up and learnt all about how to
exchange money, speak to the people
and trying to get everyone involved …
What I really liked was the fact
everyone in the team played their parts
and they all had their own little part –
Look after the money and things like
that – it was so organised – I think that
has given them a lot of skills to be able

Cont. Interview with Carol Warman
“I think its brilliant! I think its really
good to see children learning about
money and trying to get people to
purchase things – Its really good and
they are doing it for charity as well
which I think is really good as well.”
“What kind of cakes are you selling?”
“We’ve run out of ginger bread men – I
think there are like 2 left.”
“so you’ve been quite busy then?”
“Yes we have! We’ve got cupcakes
there, we’ve got a guess the weight of
the cake. Basically you guess the
weight of the cake and if you get it
close enough or right, you win the
cake! Its like that big – its like a football
pitch.”
“I think for what age they are, its been
fantastic, you know cause they did
have to think about how much money
they we’re being given and having to
give change out and things like that
and especially the cake people had to
think to do 2for1s and things like that.
They really we’re quite astute thinking
what was right for the people that
were coming in and so it was really
really good.”
“I think programmes like this are
important because its more of a
