Create sub-committee (recruit if need be) Look for sponsorship Decide on challenges to include Pre-organise teams ADVERTISE Make sure everyone involved has FUN! Getting started • Discuss with Show Society – Approval & Support • Sub-committee – Sponsorship – Recruitment (Teams and any helpers) – Media/Advertising Sponsorship • Prizes – Local businesses, banks, etc. • Supplies – Rural Merchandise Resellers, local produce, other local businesses Challenges • Start SMALL • Think local – Celebrate what your town is known for! • • • • Think practical Test runs (well before the day) Briefing on day Approval in writing from the ASC Example Challenges • • • • • • • • • • Carry & Stack Hay Roll Wool bales/round hay Crack Stockwhips Egg toss/catching Create a pen/temp fencing Poly Pipe Fittings Grain ID Milk scull Split wood Siphon water and cart through obstacle course Organising Teams • Local Sporting Teams, Businesses or other groups – Approach well before the day and try to get commitment from at least a couple of teams • ASC Waivers – All entrants must complete before competing • Minimum 1 member of each sex per team
