Buy Clean Edge business cards. If you want to print on the back buy double
sided cards. See info on next slide for the double sided cards I bought (Avery
8871). The single sided cards are cheaper.
Trial and Error for the printer before you start.
Print only the page of this PowerPoint with just the grid lines on plain printer
paper. It may say it is beyond the borders, that’s ok. Print in draft and B&W.
this is just a test print. Overlay this with a blank page of cards. See if it
matches. It must match the cut marks on the cards PERFECTLY. If they don’t
match you will have to resize the grid so you can place your words accurately.
(See next slide in this ppt for suggestions on how to resize.)
Edit card to your liking. Once you get the hang of this make and keep several
different card layouts/slides for different uses. You can just print 10 at a time!
Use Ctrl F, to Find and select Replace to replace my sample words. Then
adjust the layout . You can add photos if you like.
There is LOTS more info… If you are good with PowerPoint or know someone
who is, this is easy.
Choose one of my backgrounds if you want something other than white.
Use the grid lines only for alignment. When you get it laid out with the grid
lines, DUPLICATE your finished slide with the grid lines as backup, DELETE
the grid lines on the good one.
Choose printer
Properties
Fast Draft is probably just fine!
Try printing test card on plain paper first. Hold up to light and check
alignment. Adjust settings if necessary
Borderless!!
Select 8.5x11
Print actual size
In color
Print Current slide only!!!
Copies 1
Print ONLY one page and ONE side at a time!!! (that is for my printer)
INSURE CARDS PAPER IS IN PRINTER CORRECTLY

(08871) est. $9.00 on line. These are really nice!
There are generic brands and I think they all have clean edges
now. They also sell cards at many stores with office supplies.
To resize the grid if the grid lines don’t match exactly:
Warning, you must have a fair knowledge of PowerPoint!
What I would do is print my sample card (last slide) with my info
and grid lines on just a piece of printer paper.
Hold it up to the card stock into the light.
Mark on the sample piece of paper where the actual card edges are.
Then select only the grid layer on the test slide and then press the
SHIFT key and shrink the grid layer to match exactly the card
marks you made on the test print.
Now print this slide as a test again. Do the grid lines match the cut
lines of the cards? If not, adjust until they match exactly.
When you have it, copy just the grid lines and put it on a new slide.
(Maybe two of them so you have a back-up!!!)
Now you have a frame work for your cards and your printer!!!
Remember, If you move something or change something by
accident and want to undo that change, press Ctrl Z to undo last
change!
If you go to Avery’s site you can download a template. That is not
for me.
