Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been brought to my attention that there have been 2 local incidents where children have been
approached by an unknown adult in a car on their way home from school. As schools, we take these incidents
very seriously and I am aware that, on both occasions, this has been reported to the police.
On Friday afternoon, children in years 5 and 6 were reminded about Stranger Danger and how to stay safe
when walking to and from school, as these are our children that walk independently. The key messages shared
were:

Say No Loudly

Move quickly away to where there are Safe Adults

Tell a Safe Adult exactly what happened
We will, of course, continue to reinforce this message with all of our children and would appreciate your support
in reminding children of their safe adults (parent, carers, teachers, police officers etc) and how they can stay
safe in the following ways:

Only play in safe places

Never play in an unfamiliar place

Have a friend go with them when they play

Don’t stay out after dark

Never go anywhere without your parents’/carer’s permission

Always check in with parents/carers before changing locations, or if late.
Thank you for your support in working with the children on staying safe when out in the community and
reporting incidents that make them uncomfortable or feel unsafe.
Yours sincerely,
Miss V Simonds
