Dear 5th Graders and Families!
We are very excited to meet all of you, and cannot wait to get this school year started. This year you
will be having both of us, Mrs. Swanson (Room 66) and Mrs. Adame (Room 65), as your teachers.
Our cottages for 5th grade include Body Shop, Physics Foundry, Planetarium, and Invention
Convention. We will also become historians traveling through European Exploration, the 13 Colonies,
the American Revolution, and Westward Expansion. Each unit will be taught throughout the year and
add enrichment to our learning.
Meet Your Teachers
Hello, I am Mrs. Vanessa Adame, I have taught for 9 years, and the last three have been in 5th grade. I
am very excited to be teaching math and science this year. I graduated from NAU with a degree in
Elementary and Special Education. That is also where I met my amazing husband. We've been married
for seven years, we have an adorable Corgi named Biscuit, and are expecting our first child in July. In
2013 we hiked the Pacific Crest Trail together which starts in Campo, California and ends in Manning
Park, Canada.
Welcome!! I am Mrs. Molly Swanson (formerly known as Molly Eger) and this will be my 31st year in
education. I have taught 5th grade at EDUPRIZE for the last 3 years. I am so excited to be teaching
Reading and Social Studies this year. It’s an honor and blessing each day that I get to serve children
and families through education. I have two wonderful daughters, Mary and Lora. Mary is the mom to
my four granddaughters. Lora is currently going to ASU to become a teacher. My girls keep me very
proud and, most of all, busy!
Important Dates and Times
Open House will be in our classrooms on Monday, July 24th. Families are encouraged to come
between 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. to avoid congestion in the parking lots. There will be important
papers to sign, dismissal/carpool information, parent helper sign-up, and a chance to connect with old
friends and meet with new. Please check our school website www.eduprizeschools.net for paperwork
and updates, and have your Open House paperwork printed and filled out before you come. Please
bring $12.00 to pay for your student planner and your Scholastic News subscription, which we will be
using weekly as part of our curriculum.
Wednesday, July 26th our first day of 5th grade will be regular classroom hours. Our weekly schedule
is 7:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Fridays. On the first
day of school, and every day after that, we will be picking students up outside at 7:40 a.m. at their
designated area. You will receive all this information at Open House.
We hope to see you then!
