Volunteers are appointed in accordance with the Netball Victoria Volunteer Management Policy.
This position receives an Honorarium of $1200 as an honorary reward for voluntary services
rendered. Honorariums are reviewed annually by Netball Victoria.
This position holder must undergo screening in accordance with the Netball Victoria Member
Protection prior to appointment.
Environment
Netball Victoria is the peak sporting body for netball in Victoria and is affiliated with Netball

Netball Victoria is a not for profit, member based organisation which is governed by a volunteer
Board of Directors.
Primary Purpose of Position
Responsible for the welfare of the coaches, support staff and players. The State Team Manager is accountable for the
administration and organization of the finances, facilities and equipment.

To provide preparation support to the Head Coach for the State
Team Program and National Championships.
State Team Assistant Coach
To provide support to the Assistant Coach with the State Team
Program as required.
State Team Apprentice Coach
To provide support to the Apprentice Coach with the State Team
Program as required.
State Team Support Staff
Liaise with the Physiotherapist, sports science and masseur
regarding requirements throughout the State Team Program.

1. Development & Planning
Overview of Tasks
Selections:
Liaise with selection panel and High Performance Coordinator regarding the
following at Squad and Team selections:
Engagement, Empowerment, Innovation, Integrity, Leadership

 Record player attendance from attendance list provided by the High
Performance Coordinator, who will also provide non-attendance approval.
 Allocate players to preferred playing positions and as directed by the selection
panel adhering to all Netball Victoria policies and procedures regarding the
State Team Program.
 Provide team lists for match play to all members on the selection panel.
 Act as a timer for the selection process.
 Provide light refreshments for selection panel and team officials from selections
budget.
Preparation for Championships:
Training Program
 Notify all team officials, players and High Performance Coordinator of training
details/professional development sessions, including any cancellations or
alterations.
 Provide a training session plan at least 48hrs prior to each training session to the
High Performance Coordinator.
 Liaise with the Umpire Development Coordinator regarding organization of
umpires at training or match practice sessions.
 Arrange practice matches against teams as requested by the Head Coach.
 In consultation with the Head Coach seek approval in writing to the High
Performance Coordinator regarding the invitation of additional athletes to a
training session for Netball Victoria approval.
 Be responsible for all Netball Victoria Equipment.
Accommodation
 Compile a rooming list in consultation with the Head Coach and provide a copy
to the High Performance Coordinator.
 Check accommodation washing, pool/fitness facilities and local area to
accommodate grocery, restaurants, chemist, hospital etc
During Championships
 Act as a senior member of the travelling party responsible for all matters
pertaining to the players and team official’s including; flights, accommodation,
transport, team photo, player misconduct, championships administration,
budget and meals.
 In the event of player or team official misconduct the Team Manager is
responsible for immediately reporting the name of any person/s that has/have
not adequately fulfilled the expectations of Netball Victoria to the High
Performance Coordinator.
 Report major player injuries and subsequent rehabilitation to the High
Performance Coordinator.
 Liaise with High Performance Coordinator regarding total amount, allocation
and transfer details of all monies. Manager will control all monies and keep
receipts for all expenses for players and team officials.
 In conjunction with the Head Coach prepare and plan a daily timetable and
provide a copy to team officials and players.
2. Organising
 Follow up with individual players to ensure all player levies, agreements and
uniform fees have been submitted by the due date to Netball Victoria.
 Liaise with the High Performance Coordinator to organize the finances and

equipment for the State Team Program.
 Liaise and organize with the Head Coach and Sports Science regarding
tournament meals and snack menus.
 Organize and obtain an extra copy of the team photo and 2 times programs for
the Netball Victoria archives.
3. Administration
 Adhere to all Netball Victoria policies and procedures regarding the State Team
Program.
 In consultation with the Head Coach, provide names of team captains and vice
captains to High Performance Coordinator for board notification.
 Provide High Performance Coordinator with photocopies of driver’s licenses for
all Team Officials.
 Complete Netball Australia entry form in consultation with the High
Performance Coordinator at least one week prior to the entry closing date.
 Ensure that all Netball Australia and Netball Victoria paperwork is signed and
returned by all players and officials by the specified deadline.
 Distribute player and officials evaluation forms at the completion of the
National Championships.
 Submit to Netball Victoria a State Team Program report following the National
Championship including a copy of the budget / expenditure.
4. Practical Involvement
 Attend an officials’ induction, any scheduled team professional development
sessions and a post National’s review as required.

Attend all squad selections and squad training sessions.
 Attend team selections and all team trainings.

Attend the National Championships.
Qualifications

Hold a current Netball Victoria Membership.

Hold a current full drivers license

Level 3 - Managing National and National League Teams (Desirable)
Experience, Skills & Values

Previous involvement of 1-3 years in the State Team Program.

Experience working with groups of athletes within the relevant age group.

Previous experience in team management at an Association level or higher, including working to a budget.

Experience in working independently and as an integral part of a team.



Understanding of sport culture and organisations, including working with volunteers.

Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
