PhD Studies
AUEB offers a high-level of PhD Studies. Doctorates are
awarded by each department upon the completion of
courses, a successful qualifying exam, completion of
dissertation and its successful defense in public. Holding a
Master’s degree is a necessary requirement in order to be
accepted to the PhD program.
AUEB Doctoral studies are highly recognized internationally.
Our students receive numerous awards, such as the Award of
the European Doctoral Contest on HR Management, the
European Doctoral Contest of the European Association of
Personnel Management and others.

The AUEB research Labs
Most of the research activity at AUEB is organized
around its Research Laboratories. AUEB’ s Research
Laboratories provide a fruitful environment that offers
the necessary infrastructure that is needed, brings
together faculty, doctoral students and visiting
researchers of a given area, and cross-fertilizes existing
knowledge to provide new results.
25 AUEB Laboratories have developed extensive
international collaboration with about 300 educational
and research institutions, companies and international
organizations.

The AUEB Research Center (RC)
AUEB research laboratories attract significant funding
from a variety of sources, including the European
Union, the General Secretariat of Research and
Technology (GSRT), the Ministry of Education, other
Ministries or public bodies, as well as grants from
private industry. All funding is handled through the
AUEB Research Center.
The AUEB Library
AUEB’s library was founded in 1928 and in 1990 it has
undergone a massive modernization and IT
automation. It includes the European Documentation
Centre and it organizes specific events for raising
awareness.
It is one of the largest university libraries in the
Balkans, offering access to more than 100.000 book
titles, 1.000 electronic journals, 1.000 printed academic
journals and 150 CD-ROMs.
Electronic access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week from any computer connected to the University
intranet.
The AUEB Computer Centre
and IT Facilities
AUEB has one of the largest and most up-to-date
computer centre facilities in the country, serving,
via a high performance flexible network, more than
7.000 users. It occupies an area of approximately
700 m2 and holds an extensive library of
educational, scientific and business software. The
Computer Centre includes 5 computer labs, a
wireless on campus network and AUEB users can
also have direct access from home.

The Erasmus+ Programme
• A pioneer in interuniversity cooperation, Athens University of
Economics and Business has been participating actively in the Erasmus
Program since 1987. Within this framework, AUEB fosters collaboration
with Universities, research centers, enterprises and international
organizations in the European Union and non-EU countries. AUEB has
signed around 230 Erasmus inter-institutional agreements on which
student and staff mobility is based. More specifically, about 350
students move abroad every year for studies or placement and approx.
300 students are accepted at AUEB. All students – inbound and
outbound – spend one semester or one academic year at the host
institution and the courses successfully passed are mutually recognized
with the implementation of the European Credit Transfer and
Accumulation System-ECTS.
The Career Office
• The Employment and Career Unit was created in
2010 with a view to coordinating internal
activities and services that promote employment
and career opportunities for AUEB students and
recent graduates.
