Year 11 football team win District Cup Final to secure a historic league and cup double The Year 11 football team won the final of the East Norfolk Schools District Cup after convincingly defeating Great Yarmouth High School 4-‐0 at the Wellesley Stadium. This is the first time a league and cup double has been achieved in the school’s history. On a very large and dusty pitch, the boys needed to perform resolutely and did so superbly. Acle got off to the best possible start when Mathew S opened the scoring by slotting home when the ball broke loose in the box. Ellis P then continued his rich vein of goal scoring form as he added two more goals before half time. In the second half Great Yarmouth improved but Acle’s defence stood strong. This enabled Acle to add a fourth when P gained his hat-‐trick and his 18th goal in 7 games from the penalty spot. Captain Oscar S-‐H proudly collected the trophy (pictured). Man of the match chosen by the players was Matthew S. This has been a fantastic season and a fitting way for the boys to finish their football at Acle Academy – Well done!
