WARM-UP TIME SCHEDULE:
This schedule accommodates all teams to be on the courts for 20 minutes before the start of the
tournament. If you choose not to use this time, you will only have the 5 minutes on the court
prior to the start of your match.

The two teams that begin pool play at 9:00.
8:35 - 8:55
The two teams that play the 2nd match in pool play.

LOCKERROOMS: MSU has very limited space for us.
VALUABLES: You are responsible for all valuables.
PRACTICE BALLS: Bring your own practice balls. Have them marked with your school name.
TRAINER: Randy Palmer, will be available during competition. Please bring your own tape and supplies.
LINE JUDGE/SCORER: Each team must provide 1 linesperson AND 1 person to work as scorer and/or
assistant scorer (libero tracker) for each match they play. Home team is
responsible for official book.
Extra people will not be available.
GAME RESULTS: Game scores will be recorded on charts near the concession stand in Taylor Center and at
Schellberg Gym. If there is an error please see Michele or Sara.
ADMISSION:
Players, coaches, designated scorer, tracker and linesperson will be admitted free.
Ticket Prices are: $7.00 - adults; $5.00 - students.
PARKING:
Minnesota State University, Mankato is open for parking. Please follow the MSU parking signs.
AWARDS:
Team Trophy will be given to the champion team.
CONCESSIONS:
Concessions will be available. MSU DOES NOT ALLOW FOOD OR COOLERS WITH BEVERAGE TO BE
BROUGHT INTO THE TAYLOR CENTER. PLEASE INFORM YOUR PARENTS AND SPECTATORS. WE
MUST COMPLY WITH THEIR RULE. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
There will be an area for the coaches. We will provide the specific location when you arrive on Saturday.
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE AND SCORING FOR POOL PLAY
1.
There is a maximum of 5 minutes for warm-up on each court between matches unless otherwise directed
by the tournament director. Matches will run consecutively, starting 5 minutes after the last one finishes.
(This does not apply to the start of the 1st round, which will start at the scheduled time.) The 5 min. will
be for passing and serving.
2.
We will use 4 courts --- each pool will remain on the same court throughout pool play.
Courts 1 and 2 and 3 are in the Taylor Center.
Court 4 is in Schellberg Gym.
3.
Teams must be in the gym and ready to start or the match may be forfeited.
4.
Each team is guaranteed 6 games--- 2 games per match (4 team groups) or 3 games per match (3 team
groups) --- 25 points per game --- win by two points --- rally scoring. Teams may use the libero player as
per MSHSL rule. Bring a tracker.
ONLY 1st and 2nd SEED OF POOL PLAY WILL CONTINUE ONTO TOURNAMENT PLAY. 1 ST SEEDS
WILL BE IN THE GOLD DIVISION AND 2ND SEEDS WILL BE IN THE SILVER DIVISION.

Scoring --- a total of 3 points will be awarded per match in Pool Play.
Example:
1 point for each game won
1 bonus point for winning both games in the match (4 team groups)
1 bonus point to the team with the largest point spread (4 team groups)
If scores have equal point spread in the 2 games, (25-10 and
10-25) each team will receive 1/2 a bonus point for the match. (4 team groups)
6.
The team with the most points from each pool will be in the championship matches. These matches will
be played on courts 1 and 3. The team with the second most points from each pool will play off on courts
2 and 4. These will be rally scoring - 2 out of 3 games matches.
