For example, say, “I spy, with my little eye, something that is
round.”
Then give your child hints to help figure it out. Talk about
how the shapes are the same and different from one another.
Shapes are part of geometry. Also, knowing shapes is the beginning
of letter knowledge. It is not too early to help your child get ready to
learn the alphabet in a fun and playful way.

Counting this way is sorting by one characteristic or attribute. This is something that happens in math and science. You
are helping your child get ready for school.

take place your are helping your child develop the
mathematical concept of sequencing.

Look in your pockets or purse. Count your coins. Talk about what they
are called and how much they are worth. The children are learning
that one object can represent a quantity greater than one.
