Gillis Play & Learn
May 2017 Newsletter
In the Monkey room this month the children have been enjoying lots
of outdoor time together! The group has played in the field, play yard and
our nearby park together! They have gone on lots of walks together and
have showed an interest in painting with all kinds of tools such as paint
brushes and cars! The children enjoyed painting on the window this month
and also loved playing in the water table together!
The Sharks have been enjoying learning about everything related to
spring this month! They have been exploring the plants and animals that
are starting to come out with the warmer weather. The children have really
enjoyed dressing up this month as princesses, firefighters and
superheroes! They have also been enjoying building with huge plastic
blocks together!
In the Cheetah room this month the children have enjoyed playing
chess, hockey and soccer together! The group enjoyed two special trips to
the park where they got to have a picnic lunch together! The children have
been playing superheroes a lot this month and have been reading as many
superhero books as they can find together!
This month the School Agers enjoyed a bike day on their
inservice day! The children have enjoyed playing lots of different kinds of
card games together and have been building lots of forts to turn into
doctors offices and haunted houses! The children have been helping their
teachers plant lots of veggie seeds to hopefully transplant to our garden so
feel free to come on into the room and check them out!
Thank you to the following families for
their donations:
 Fetterly family for the Easter
purses and sparkly party hats!
Just a heads up that the daycare will be
closed Friday May 26 for the annual
Manitoba Child Care Association
Conference as all staff will be attending.
There will be no charge to parents on
this day.
The monkey room is currently
looking for any extra ziplock
containers that you may have
cluttering the house. The children
love to build and play with them
so any donations you can send in
would be greatly appreciated!
With the warmer weather on the way we
ask that you please pack a pair of splash
pants for your child in their locker. This
way on wet days the children can
explore the outdoors and remain
comfortable. As always please ensure
that their pants are labeled as it can get
confusing when we have 20 pairs of
black splash pants and no names written
on them. Thank you! During this warm
weather time you may also want to
throw in an extra pair of socks as these
are usually the first articles of clothing
to get soaked during the day.
