Game Transformer: How to modifyGames to create more movemen
Wild Goose Chase
Have students partner up
Each group will need four small disc cones and create a square or
rectangle.
Once the dimensions are set up one person will stand on one side of
the square and the other partner will stand on the opposite side.
Select one person to be the tagger and the other to be chased.
Play begins as one chases the other around the outside of the square
(variations could be to change the locomotor movement.) withthe
object being to try to catch their partner.
If the partner proves too elusive you may institute a “cut through”
modification. This means the chaser or the one being chased may cut
through or across the square in an attempt to tag their partner. You
may decide on how many “cut throughs” you wish to implement. Once
all cut throughs are used up they don’t get any more for that round so
encourage strategic implementation!
Jacks
Have students get into partner groups. One person will stand on a
starting sideline and the other person will go the other sideline across
the gym. The person across the gym will stand on their line facing
away from their partner.
The partner on the starting sideline will have an object (beanbag, foam
brick, etc) and will place it down on the floor within the path of the
starting line and their partner. Once they place the object down they
will continue towards their partner across the way. They will tag their
partner and then that partner will immediately start to chase the
tagger back to the starting line. On the way back to the starting line
the player who placed the object down will try to pick it up on the way
back to the starting line all the while without getting tagged.
If you want to add a scoring system:
5 points for making it back safely
10 points for making it back safely with the object(s)

Run for it
Team A and Team B Race to the rope. The further the distance the
more interesting the strategy becomes. Regular TOW ensues.
. Cascade Running Game
In this game you will have groups of four. The team will stand in a
single file line at a cone that is designated as a starting cone. The
starting cone will double as the finish line. Off in the distance in front
of your staring cone place another cone. Each player in the team will
run up and around the cone and then back to the finish line.
Before the game starts have each player in the group of four number
off 1,2,3,4. The object of the game is for players to try to tag the
player in front of them before they get back to the finish line. To start,
player 1 takes off, then player two goes, player three and so forth.
If a player is tags the person in front of them, they many continue on
to the next person in front! If a player is tagged they stay in the game
still trying to catch the person in front of them.
After each race have players change positions.
Robot Master- In a confined area with many groups of three, each
trio will have 2 robots, and one robot master. The robots begin back to
back, and walk away from each other in a straight line only. Whenever
a robot comes to an outside line, or anything like another robot gets in
their way, they must stop and begin beeping. The robot master must
run and turn them in a new direction to move again. In round two, the
group designates a new robot master, and adds their own personalized
stop signal (other than beeping). Round three will include a new sound
and a movement by the robots to call their master.
Ninja Chop
Use three foam bricks or any object that can be held in place by palm of
both players when pushed together. Goal of the game is to walk with your
partner to other teams and try to karate chop the object being held by them
out of their hands. Teams must keep their objects held together while
trying to knock other teams objects to the floor.
Jacks/ Partner Tag

and will place it down on the floor within the path of the starting line and their
partner. Once they place the object down they will continue towards their partner
across the way. They will tag their partner and then that partner will immediately
start to chase the tagger back to the starting line. On the way back to the starting
line the player who placed the object down will try to pick it up on the way back to
the starting line all the while without getting tagged.
