Trunk or Treat
Join the fun on Saturday, October 25 from 4:00—6:00 p.m. Every year we have hundreds of children and
their parents on our campus. We are always seeking new ways to show people we care and to share the
good news of Jesus with them. YOUR participation is vital to making this happen.
How can you help? I’m glad you asked. You can help by:
 Praying for the event and for those who will attend
 Bringing candy that will be handed out to the children
 Volunteering to decorate your trunk and be there to distribute candy and smile
 Volunteering for the set-up, take-down, parking, greeting, guiding, or any of the other necessary
tasks that night
 Volunteering to help with follow-up for those who indicated they have no church home
Call the church office if you are able to help. Thanks!
Crossing the Goal Line
The challenge is before us and the goal line is in sight. Our target is to pay
off our current building debt by Thanksgiving. This is surely not the final
victory, but will be one victory on the way to many more in the future.
Thank you for your participation. We can do more together than we could
ever do apart. Look for an update coming soon!
October’s Scripture Memory Verse:
“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.”

Grace Fellowship Elder Meeting Notes
September 9, 2014
Elders Present: Jimmy Long, Robert Motley, John Demarest, Jim Cox, James Moore, Darrell Roth, Richard Cook,
Glenn Winslette, Glad Kreimann.
James Moore opened with prayer and Robert Motley read scripture.
Minutes of August meeting were read and approved.
Pastor Glad addressed the areas in the youth and children ministry that have needs and presented a chart of the positions
to be filled by volunteers. A student ministry e-mail is being sent out weekly to all which also lists the needs and
positions to be filled. Some Elders and Yokefellows are needed to attend Student Ministry Meetings with Glad.
Pastor Jimmy presented the financial report. The Treasurer, Brenda Warwick, will be asked by Pastor Jimmy Long to
prepare a simplified chart detailing the process of paying off the current church debt. The reason for this action is to
insure clarity after the recent presentation during the called business meeting on Sunday, September 7. Pastor Jimmy
Long will be responsible to have a display made to track the progress toward our goal. The display is currently in place
in the Gathering Area.
Pastor Jimmy and Elders gave updates and shared concerns for absentee members.
Pastor Jimmy outlined and discussed the Master Plan. There are already good foundational documents and goals and the
Elders will be looking at the plan and assemble notes and plans to reach people. Pastor Jimmy informed Elders of the
need for future meetings to put the Master Plan in place and implemented. The first meeting towards this goal was held
Sunday afternoon on September 14. A second meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 5
Jim Cox reported on the replacement of the walkway to the pavilion which will cost approximately $3,500. Men from
the church will install the flex drains in front of the pavilion.
Pastor Jimmy reported that the security system is nearing completion.
It was agreed that action items determined in Elder meetings will be noted in minutes and Elders assigned to follow
through.
A discussion was held on staff goals.
The Elders prayed over prayer requests and member needs and closed the meeting in prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
James Moore
Next Elder and Yokefellow Meeting
Tuesday, October 14, 7:00 pm
If you have items you would like to bring to the Elders, please contact Elder Chairman
John Mobley or Vice-Chairman Robert Motley to be put on the agenda.

Treasurer’s Notes
Christmas is coming! There are how many shopping days left? If you can answer that
question, then I bet your shopping is already done and the gifts are wrapped! For the rest of
us; however, a plan is essential to our success. We don’t want to end our celebration of the
season of Christ’s birth with a snow storm of credit card bills and overdue notices.
Now is not too late to set your budget. Decide for whom you will buy gifts and how much to
spend. Can you set aside a portion of that money in October and November? How about
buying a few gifts each month or layaway?
Don’t forget others on your list. Can you participate in Operation Christmas Child? Your
contribution to the food bank will help feed families in our area. Your support of our church
benevolence fund would share your love by meeting needs within our church family.
Merry Christmas!

The current building loan balance is $ 169,500.
There is $ 32,841 in the building fund checking account.
(These funds are designated for loan payments only.)
After these funds have been applied the building loan
balance will be $136,660.
At the end of the month we anticipate $92,891 will be
moved from the general fund and paid on the loan. That
will leave a balance of $43,768.
These figures do not include anticipated general fund
budget savings of $24,000 which could also be applied to
the building loan.

I was born in Greene County on a farm near Mosquito Crossing. There
were 8 of us kids. 6 boys and 2 girls. I went to school in Siloam and
Greensboro. In 1942 a tornado blew our house down and then we
moved to Syrup Mill Crossing where I live now.
I have 3 children, two girls, one boy. I have 6 grandchildren, 2 girls,
four boys. My oldest grandson hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2013 in
6 months and two weeks.
I was saved when I was seventeen and joined Enon Baptist Church in
Veazey, GA being baptized in a creek.
In 1958 I was in the army and received training as a wheel vehicle
mechanic. Was later schooled as an electrician at the DeKalb Trade
School. I worked 24 years as an electrician, then 14 years as an
electrical inspector for DeKalb County. After retirement I came back
to Greene County, bought the farm I grew up on and built a log house.
I
have
a love for travel. Been to Hawaii and Europe. Love to go on
Perry Underwood
missions trips for God. Been to the jungles along the Amazon and
Rionigger rivers twice. Helped on a retirement home for the New Tribe Missionaries in Sandford, FL. Went
to the Dominican Republic 5 times. Helped on a boys camp in upper state New York twice. Like to go fishing,
hunting and gold prospecting. Been prospecting on the beaches of Nome Alaska. Find pleasure working in my
vegetable garden. While in Brazil, we traveled 600 miles from Manalas to a work site in a small plane. Going
back to Manalas five of us took a boat traveling 3 days and 3 nights. That was an education in itself.
I like Grace Fellowship because the people are friendly and are doing things for God’s Kingdom.
We are charter members of Grace Fellowship, coming from First Baptist Church
of Greensboro. Gerald served on a committee charged with fundraising for the
new church while Barbara was part of the committee responsible for building
design and securing the services of a architect and building contractor.
Gerald is a native of Greensboro. He has one surviving sister. He is a graduate of
Southern Technical Institute (now Southern Polytechnic University). He spent
most of his career with the Georgia Department of Transportation serving as
project manager on construction of 1-20 through east central Georgia and for
several years as Area Engineer in Clarke, Jackson, Oconee, Greene, Morgan, and
Putnam counties. He is presently a county commissioner in Greene County.
Barbara is a native of Madison County and has no siblings. She attended Tift
Barbara & Gerald Torbert College and is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She worked with the
University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service where she served as
County Director in Greene and Morgan Counties.
She is active in the choir. We have three children. A son, David, and two daughters, Kelly Hayes and Tammy
(Chris) Way. Kelly and her husband, Mike, have two sons, Trey and Davis and a daughter, Addison. Tammy
has two children, Elizabeth and Jessica Manley.
During the 1970's we served as foster parents and kept a number of infants for periods ranging from two
weeks to more than a year. One foster child (Tammy ) lived in our home for over three years and we were
allowed by the State to adopt her.
Are your feet beautiful?
”How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news of Christ”.
Romans 10:15b
Our upcoming Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 25 will need many feet & hands to
reach our community with the good news of Christ. Our prayer this year is that every
person attending will hear & see the gospel through a video presentation, gospel tracks,
& YOU. Will you allow God to use YOUR beautiful feet to accomplish this task?
Below is a list of ways to make your feet beautiful.

What would you say to these rules?
No children in the Kitchen without an adult. (Even then, it is probably not the best scenario.)
No children in the Game Room without an adult.
No playing in the Gathering Space or Game Room on Sunday mornings.
Unauthorized people should avoid the office area especially during services.
Mints should not be taken in great quantities. (Parents, monitor your children.)
If you spill something, make sure it is cleaned it up.
Parents should follow the procedures for dropping off and picking up children.
Avoid bringing toys, but if you must, make sure they are not a distraction during group times.
No children in supply closets.
Ask permission to play with church toys. Put toys away when done.
Only leave worship in case of an emergency.
Limit worship time emergencies by getting water and using the restroom before the service.
Don’t over-indulge when getting food on Sunday mornings.
Smoking should be limited to the pavilion.
Parents, monitor your children with the food table.
Be in the Worship Center when the service begins.
Some of these rules might be to avoid accidents or other questionable incidents. (Practical)
Some of these guidelines might be based on a godly respect for others and for the property. (Polite)
Some of these reflect a reverence for the place and the activities taking place. (Spiritual)
