J U N E 21, 2016 PROJECT UPDATE PORT OF EVERETT TO RELOCATE HISTORIC WEYERHAEUSER BUILDING IN JULY 2016 In the late evening of July 13/early morning of July 14, the Port of Everett and its contractor, Everett-based Nickel Bros, will relocate the historic Weyerhaeuser Building from its current location in the Port’s South Marina along West Marine View Drive to the Port’s new Boxcar Park in the Central Marina at water’s edge. This is the third move for the iconic waterfront building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This move will set the stage for the building’s future use as an outdoor performance venue and marine clubhouse in the 2020 timeframe. “This is a very important project and building for the community,” Port Commissioner Troy McClelland said. “Staff will be exploring ways to put the building back into productive use at Boxcar Park in the interim while preparations are made for the interior and exterior improvements to the building to create an outdoor performance venue and marina clubhouse in the 2020 timeframe.” The project includes: • Relocation of the 80-foot by 65-foot, 350-ton structure to its new location at Boxcar Park (less than one mile) with foundation establishment; • Re-stabilizing the building’s current pad for future development; • Providing move route modifications to utilities, landscaping and structures; • Demolishing an existing steel storage building near Boxcar Park; • Moving the mobile restroom facility adjacent to North Guest Dock 6; and • Performing site repairs and improvements related to the projects move impact. A: If you are a North or South Marina slipholder, your marina access should not be affected by project activities. If you are a Central Marina slipholder, please be advised that Marina Permit Parking at the Central Docks will be limited from July 11 – 15. Construction crews plan to keep the south lane of Central Marina permit parking open that week (located next to the trail). A temporary closure within this parking area will allow crews to prepare the relocation route (including removal of light poles), provide clearance for the building during the move, and also, allow for post-move work (including re-installation of light poles). Temporary parking will be available near the Port’s Waterfront Center. If you have questions regarding parking or access, please contact the Marina Office at 425.259.6001. Q: WILL THE MOVE GENERATE NOISE AND/OR LIGHTING IMPACTS? A: The move is anticipated to generate noise from use of diesel-engine equipment. Portable light banks will provide additional lighting to the site for safety. The lights will not face the bluff or marina; however, this may generate a brighter view for site neighbors. Q: WHERE CAN I ACCESS PROJECT UPDATES? A: The Port of Everett regularly updates its Construction Hotline with project updates. The hotline is available 24/7 at 425.388.0269. Project updates are also available at www.portofeverett.com/historyonthemove. Q: WHAT IS THE CONSTRUCTION WORK SCHEDULE FOR THIS PROJECT?
