GOALS & DREAMS
The Faceoff
Camorra Hockey and the Backyard Hockey League are proud to announce that
we will be joining forces to roll out yet another option for both current and new ice
hockey players in Auckland and the surrounding area. Due to the immense success of the
BHL, now in its 3rd season, the interest among local players has risen, Big Time. In fact
the league has grown to the point where players have been waitlisted and several still
remain without a team to play for over the summer. Camorra Hockey currently runs a
Monday night program for current AIHA - SNC players and the thought was to combine
the waitlisted players from the BHL with the existing Camorra Hockey clients to form a
development league, thus the idea for the FHL or the Frontyard Hockey League was born.
Our Mission
The FHL’s sole purpose is to provide players with the best possible atmosphere that
encourages fairplay, sportsmanship, teamwork and fun! We all love the amazing sport of
ice hockey and want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to take part in that
indescribable feeling of being part of a team and competing against other like minded
passionate and driven people.
Our Goals

The FHL will join the BHL family as a development league with the purpose of
providing players an opportunity to work towards playing full time in the BHL.

Based on the current NHL/AHL structure. Players are moved up and down
between the two leagues with direct franchise affiliations.

Depending on the success of this trial season, the FHL would look to expand by
spring 2016 from 4 trams – 6 teams


The BHL draft would expand to include 30 players drafted by each franchise.
Franchise GM’s would select their first 15 to play in the BHL and the second 15
would play in the FHL.

BHL management would also appoint a management team to handle things at
the FHL level. In the event of injury or unforseen circumstances, BHL teams are
able to call up players from their respective FHL franchise.

GM’s are also able to move players down in the event of poor performance or
poor attendance records. All in all we want every potential hockey player to have
a home and as such this new partnership and expansion ensures opportunity is
available to everyone.
