Move More is Sheffield’s Physical Activity Strategy, which aims to make it easier for everyone in Sheffield to be physically active as part of everyday life. AIM The overarching aim of Move More is to help Sheffield become the most active city in the UK by 2020. We are kicking this off with a Move More Challenge throughout the month of July 2016, where we aim to engage 50,000 people (10% of the Sheffield population) in physical activity across all communities and areas of the city. WHAT We aim to attract new people to engage in physical activity through taster events and specific movement challenges throughout July. We are concentrating on the following key areas: City wide Communities Workplace Schools Move More aims to do this through 2 different avenues: 1. Through branding some existing events going on in Sheffield as being part of Move More to help create awareness. 2. More importantly however, provide some taster sessions / easy to access events throughout July under the Move More umbrella to help get people: a. Excited about physical activity b. Give a warm, welcoming, safe environment for people to engage in physical activity c. Provide a variety of different events the public could take part in to help increase activity levels d. Attract new people to your clubs and organisations to grow your community This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase how, if all the organisations involved in exercise and sport throughout Sheffield rally together, can impact on Sheffield's activity levels, health and wellbeing. HOW This is all going to be tracked through 2 pieces of technology. 1. Move More App. This can be downloaded to your phone and will track all your physical activity. This will also register you to the Move More website, where you can find out about more physical activity tasters going on in your community and the general Sheffield area. 2. Packs will be given out to the public, which will include a brochure of what Move More is and what it's about, as well as a free activity monitoring band that can be used in the absence of the Move More App. All this information can then be logged onto a personal login on the Move More website so that you can track your physical activity levels.
