Day 1-5 – Kasaka River Lodge – 4 nights
Kasaka River Lodge has 8 Luxury tented
chalets with en-suite bathrooms each
tastefully decorated with an authentic
African flavor. The tent is a large walk in
canvas safari tent with two single beds or
one king size bed. The tent stands on a
wooden deck or concrete plinth. Each
has an elegantly furnished en-suite
bathroom with flush toilets and powerful
heated showers
Depending on what time you arrive at the lodge, we can offer an activity after you
have settled in and have had some refreshments. It can either be a boat cruise or a
game drive. Game activities are generally based on approximately 4 hours duration.
The morning activities usually set out after breakfast. The afternoon activities
usually set out following afternoon tea.
River activities need to be concluded by
dusk.
Longer activities with packed lunches can
be organized in advance for guests on
game drives and fishing trips.
Open safari vehicles are used for game
drives. All game walks are accompanied
by an armed ZAWA Scout Basic regular
and fly fishing tackle is available for our guests use. Refreshments are provided on
all activities and Sundowners offered to take advantage of the African sunsets.
Please note children under 14 are not allowed on walks, and children under 12 are
not allowed on the canoes for safety reasons. Kasaka does however offer short “poo
walks” whereby a guide will provide children friendly information about the small
and smelly objects in and around camp. We also have a “bush kids” programme
designed for 6 -13 year olds as well as
many games and books located in our
library.
Day 5 Transfer to airstrip for flight to Lusaka
Flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe and transfer to camp
Day 5-9 – Flatdogs Camp – 4 nights
The chalet rooms are ideal for a family
travelling together, as there is a large
double room downstairs, with an airy twin
or triple room upstairs for the kids. In
between the two rooms is a small kitchen
area with tea & coffee making facilities as
well as a fridge for keeping cold water and
drinks. There is a verandah around the
whole chalet which is gauzed for your
comfort. All beds have large mosquito
nets, electric lights and plug sockets for re-charging batteries.
The chalet rooms are cool in the hotter
months and cozy in winter.
Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom
with hot shower, WC and basin.
We will meet up for tea at 1530 once
you have had time to settle in, and you
can meet your safari guide who is going be showing you as much as he can of the
Park during your stay here. You will head out on your first drive at 1600 and your
guide will give you an introduction to the park and the variety of game possible to
see here.
As the sun starts to dip towards the
horizon, your guide will find a good
spot to stop so you can stretch your legs
and watch the sun set with a cold drink
in hand… Then, once it’s nearly dark,
you will carry on game-viewing with a
spotlight, searching for some of our
interesting nocturnal residents, like the
leopard, lion, porcupine, civet, genet,
owls and hyaena.
You will return to camp at around 20h00
in time for dinner. In the mornings, we
offer you an early bird breakfast of toast
and cereal, tea and coffee before you
head out at 06h00 on a morning game
drive, exploring a new area, or returning
to the action from the night before to see
what’s been happening under cover of
the night...
You will head back to camp at around
10h15, in time for breakfast or a
brunch/lunch before a siesta in the
afternoon by the pool perhaps? If you
are interested in visiting a village
during your stay, or our anti-poaching
base or some of the community
projects, including local schools, we
are supporting in this area, then we’d
be more than happy to show them to
you.
Day 9 Transfer to Mfuwe airport for flight to Lusaka and transfer to lodge
