COMPETITIONS SUB-COMMITTEE TERMS OF REFERENCE Composition The Board of Lacrosse Victoria shall appoint at least five men and five women to form the Competitions Committee. Duties Subject to the rules and any resolution passed by the Lacrosse Victoria Board the Competitions Committee shall: • Investigate and report to the Board on all applications for admission of new Clubs • Recommend to the Board the allocation of all teams accepted for competition into the sections laid down in the By-Laws for the season concerned. The Board may allow such grading at its discretion; • Prepare and/or supervise programs for home and away, semi-final, final and grand-final matches, as directed by the Board; • Function as a weather committee, whenever there is doubt or a possibility of weather conditions rendering all or individual grounds or games unfit for play; • Abandon all matches, or relocate or postpone individual matches which are rendered unplayable by adverse weather; • Advise the Secretary of each Club involved, and the Secretary of the Victorian branch of the Australian Lacrosse Referees Association, or the Officials of women’s lacrosse of a decision to cancel matches not later than 12.00 midday in the case of senior men’s games and 8.30 am in the case of junior or women’s games • Request the news media to broadcast any decision to abandon games • Inspect or otherwise ascertain the state of grounds programmed for semi-final, final or grand final matches, and where it finds a ground to be unfit for play, order the match to be played at another suitable venue NOTES: i) If matches are wrongly played by teams in ignorance of a decision of the Competitions Committee points shall not be awarded for such matches except with the approval of the Board. ii) Abandoned games shall be regarded as cancelled and shall not be played.
