RULE 39(b)
A player’s stick with the ball in it may pass over the centre line of their horse without constituting a penalty, provided
they are in the act of throwing the ball.
Discussion.
Many are trying the over hand throw with a circle around the head before releasing the ball- this constitutes 2 over the
centre line of the horse actions- you will be penalized!!!!
RULE 37(a).
Striking horse with stick.
Discussion.
You may NOT hit a horse with your racquet, even if it is tapping it to get into a line out- school horses properly or use
your correct crop- you will be penalized!
RULE 26(d)
How a goal is scored.
Discussion.
A goal is scored if: - the no 3 or back catches the ball before it goes through the goal posts with the horses feet on or
over the backline.
RULE 31(b)
Ball out of play.
Discussion.
A penalty will be given against a player who causes the ball (not from a horse), causing the ball to go over the back
line (ie deflecting the throw).
All the rest of the actual playing rules (32 of them) will be discussed in detail at the umpire clinic in Walkerville.
