Youth Ambassador Programme
Will you speak up for the voiceless? Will you drive real and meaningful change? Join World Vision Singapore’s Youth
Ambassador Programme and unveil real issues, meet real people and create real change.
The Youth Ambassador Programme seeks to expose youths aged 15-22 to overseas community development work,
and inspire them to do their part as change agents in the world. Youth Ambassadors will speak at local and overseas
forums relating to global poverty, interact with like-minded people across borders where World Vision is involved,
and be empowered as social leaders through mentorship by eminent leaders from NGOs and private enterprises.
There are two categories for the Youth Ambassadorship:
 Teen Category: aged 15 to 18
 Youth Category: aged 19 to 22
Roles of Youth Ambassadors:
 Go on exposure field trips to developing communities where World Vision works
 Be mentored by eminent leaders from NGOs and private enterprises
 Speak at local and overseas forums relating to global poverty
 Interact with like-minded youths across borders
 Be agents of change and advocate for World Vision at outreach events
 Take on key leadership roles at the National Famine Leadership Convention 2014
Application Procedure:
 Submit application and nomination forms (downloadable from
http://worldvision.org.sg/GetInvolved/SchoolsYouths/YouthAmbassadorProgramme.aspx) by email to

 Applications and nominations will close on 1 July 2013.
 Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by 31 July 2013.
 Winners will be notified by 1 Aug 2013 and presented with the Ambassadorship on 19 August 2013 as part
of World Humanitarian Day.
Selection criteria:
 15 to 22 years old (one representative each will be selected from the Teen Category, aged 15 to 18, and the
Youth Category, aged 19 to 22).
 Actively participating in30 Hour Famine Camp 2013
 Passionate about organizing next year’s National Famine Leadership Convention.
 Interested in issues of global poverty and injustice, willing to advocate for change with World Vision in an
ongoing way.
 Outgoing and enjoys speaking in public.
 Possessing strong leadership and communication skills.
 Committed to ambassadorship tenure of 1.5 years (upon receipt of award), taking into consideration other
commitments i.e. school / university.
Selection timeline:
 1st round (June 2013) – Written application (Form + Essay)
 2nd round (at Famine Camp 2013) – Performance and leadership in campaigning, public speaking, passion
 3rd round (13 to 31 July 2013) – Face-to-Face Interviews
 Announcement of winners – August 2013

Terms and Conditions:
By taking part in this programme, all persons participating herein agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions:
 The programme is open to all residing in Singapore.
 World Vision Singapore reserves the right to disqualify any incomplete, improper or late entries without
disclosing or providing any reason whatsoever.
 Applicants must submit their forms with all fields completed in order to be eligible as a complete entry.
 Youth Ambassadors will be determined by the strength of their application and nomination as well as their
interview with a panel of judges.
 Selected Youth Ambassadors will be contacted by 1 Aug 2013.
 Award will be presented on 19 August 2013.
 The judges’ decision on all matters relating to this Ambassador Programme will be final and binding on all
participants, and no correspondence will be entertained.
 World Vision Singapore, including the media, reserves the right to publish or display the name and pictures
of the Youth Ambassadors for publicity purposes.
General Terms and Conditions:
 By entering into this award, participants agree that World Vision Singapore shall not be liable for injury, loss,
or damage of any kind resulting from participating in this programme or from the acceptance or use/misuse
of the prize awarded. This includes, without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and
claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.
 World Vision Singapore, in their sole discretion, reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions, or
cancel this programme without prior notice.
 World Vision Singapore are not responsible for lost or misdirected entries, caused by telephone lines or
systems or internet service providers, for entry responses received after the deadline as a consequence of
telephone or internet service delays, interruptions, failures or overloads, or for any stolen, misplaced, or
incomplete responses.
 World Vision Singapore reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be
tampering with the registration process or the operation of the award or the website, to be in violation of
the Conditions of Access of the Web site, or to be acting in violation of the Computer Misuse Act or any
other law or regulation.
 World Vision Singapore reserves the right to pursue legal action against any individual believed to have
undertaken fraudulent activities or other activities harmful to this programme, the application process or the
relevant web site.
 Participants also agree that World Vision Singapore is not responsible or liable for any injury or damage to a
participant or third party's computer relating to or resulting from this programme.
 World Vision Singapore is not liable for damage to a user's computer system in any way due to a user's
participation in the online submission or downloading of any information in connection with the registration,
including without limitation any server failure; lost, delayed or corrupted data or other malfunction.
 By entering this programme, unless otherwise advised, entrants consent to the use of selected personal
information they submit with application form for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes
undertaken by World Vision Singapore.

1. Successful applicants will be contacted by 12 July 2013
2. The interviews will be held from 13 to 31 Jul 2013.
The interviews will involve in-depth individual interviews, group activities and social time as well as a more formal presentation. The selection
panel will include senior WV staff and corporate partners.
