Noise environment situation of China
 China Environmental Noise Prevention and Control Annual Report
- There is a report every year published by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the
People’s Republic of China.
- The environment quality for different acoustic areas is summarized (324 cities in year 2015).
- The situation of “4a” areas is more and more serious caused by automobiles.

 GB 3096 《Environment quality standard for noise》
- Leq, Ld, Ln, Lmax are necessary parameters to test and record (d: 6:00-22:00 ).

The main focus of the evaluation methods
 GB 3096 《Environment quality standard for noise》
- The main parameters considered are Ld and Ln.
- Lmax is also very important for the evaluation of burst noise (limit value+15dB(A)).

The real complains from residents
 Most of complains are for high way and express cross the residence areas.

Suggestions from environment experts
 Acoustic environment regional planning
- Any other treatments can not solve questions basically.
 Control noise resource
- Limit speed, prohibit the horn, quiet road surface, quiet tyre.
 Control the path
- Sound barriers, green the road and environment.
 Strength the building
- Soundproof windows or walls.
 Promote the evaluation method
- The Ld and Ln methods are not enough and the Lmax should also be considered.

Typical test conditions concerned
 Stable noise
- Speed (road speed near the residence area, road speed on the express), tyre, road surface.
 Burst noise
-Heavy bus or trucks (power-train, compressed air noise, braking noise).
-Horn.
-power hided in passenger cars (engine speed highly changes cause by kick-down, exhausted
noise not necessary and driving behavior ).
-After market (modified mufflers of motorcycles and passenger cars ).
For ASEP:
-Stable noise (vehicle speed, engine acceleration).
-Burst noise (acceleration of engine, vehicle acceleration).

How to simplify the test methods
 Engine speed and engine acceleration
-Engine speed (test vehicle on stationary with engine speed: 20%, 50%, 80% of rated engine
speed).
-Engine acceleration (test vehicle on stationary with engine speed goes up from 20% to 80% of
rated engine speed).
 Vehicle speed and vehicle acceleration
-Vehicle speed (cruise tests with speed 30km/h, 50km/h and 70km/h).
-Vehicle acceleration (acceleration tests)
Vpp’=30km/h, 50km/h and 70km/h;
Gear for 30km/h: (1+i )/2; Gear for 30km/h: (i+1+X)/2.
