Slide 1 - Department of Cycling

Kirsty was born and raised in Auckland, where she
started cycling with the Massey High School cycling
team at 13 years old.
At 15 Kirsty made her first NZ representative team
and by 21 she was signing her first professional
road contract in Europe. Her 4 years racing
professionally in Europe Kirsty learnt how to race
tactically: both individually and as a team and how to train and race
smart.
Kirsty has raced all the women’s grand tours, world cups and 5 world
championships and the Manchester Commonwealth Games. In 2003 her
team finished the season ranked #1 in the UCI Women’s Pro Team
rankings. Some of her major results include:
4 x New Zealand National time trial champion
Winner Chrono Champenois Trophee European, France
Winner Stage 6 Tour of Holland
Winner Omloop de Kempen, Holland
Winner Profonde van Made, Holland
2nd in GC for the Tour de Bretagne, France
3rd Stage 1 Tour de A’lude, France
6th ITT Manchester Commonwealth Games
After competitive racing, Kirsty set her sights on building a career in
physiotherapy. Her in-depth knowledge of the sport assisted with cycling
related injuries, issues and she received many request for coaching
advice. While lending a physio hand to Gordy during his 2010 season,
with aligned philosophies to training and racing, the idea of joining GMC
Coaching was born.
“I've always wanted to give back something to a sport that has given me
so much, with GMC Coaching giving me the opportunity to do this I look
forward to working with you on your next cycling goal”
