Thenewplayerandteamsizestandardsarefocusedat
playersfromtheU-6toU-12agegroups.Thisnew
environmentwillallowplayersabe\eropportunityto
developtheiron-the-ballskillsaswellasincreasetheir
soccerintelligence
Thenumberofplayersonthepitchwillincreaseinsize
from4v4to7v7to9v9asplayersmoveupinage,un-l
theyreachtheU-13agegroupandbegintoplayfull11v11
matches.

Thecoreobjec-vesbehindthesmall
sidedstandardsareasfollows:
•  Fewerplayersonthefieldmeansmoretouchesontheballandincreased
touchestranslatestomoreindividualskill.
•  Playerswhoaremoreskilledmaybecomemoreconfidentandcomfortable
wheninpossessionoftheball.
•  Thera-oofplayerstofieldsizeisdesignedtoassistplayerswithmakingthe
rightkindofdecisionsandimprovingawareness.
•  Thisapproachbuildsonitselfasplayersgetolderandstartplayingwith
moreplayersonbiggerfields.
•  Andasplayersgetolder,thebuildingblockapproachalsoallowsthemto
be\erintegrateintoateammodelwheretheydeveloppartnershipswith

mandatesandinthesamemannerwehavealwaysconductedtryouts.
Canmychildplayupanagegroup?
ProspectorSoccerClubhasalwayshadapolicythatplayersmusttryoutintheir
ownagegroup.Ifthecoachand/orDirectorbelieveitisinthebestinterestof
theplayersdevelopmenttohavethemplayup,thatiswhatwillbeofferedto
theplayer.However,playerswillnotbeallowedtoplayupunlessitisabenefit
totheplayer’sdevelopmentandtheywillhaveameaningfulimpactonthe
olderteam.
