Details: Title: Location: Remuneration: Operations Intern 77 Grosvenor Street, London, W1K 3JR Competitive The Operations Department: The operations department is made up of roughly 50 members of staff based for the majority in London with a small team in the US. The department is split into 12 sub-teams and led by the Partner, Global Head of Operations. The operations department works closely with the investment desks and the finance department to manage the post-trade stages of the lifecycle of a trade, ranging from cash management to processing financial transactions. Programme Structure: The rotational operations internship programme will be 12 months’ long (commencing June 2017) and offer the successful candidate exposure to the processing of financial transactions, cash management, a variety of different instrument types and the opportunity to interact with different business areas globally. The successful operations intern will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the department as a whole and be involved in day-to-day projects and tasks as well as observe and learn from BlueBay employees on more sensitive tasks. In addition to on-the-job training and support, interns will attend a two-day induction course including an interactive Introduction to Asset Management workshop, lunch with the CEO, and presentations from Partners or Department Heads from across the business. Interns also attend tailored Make the Most of Your Internship at BlueBay sessions throughout their programme, to enhance and develop both their professional and personal skills whilst deepening their understanding of BlueBay. During the internship, structured and detailed performance feedback will be provided to interns. Main Duties and Responsibilities: The operations internship offers a rotational programme across 3 or 4 operations teams over the 12 month programme, offering the intern maximum exposure to the roles and responsibilities of the department. Duties and responsibilities will vary across the different teams, but will generally include working closely with the Operations Associate to: Follow appropriate policies and procedures in line with function. Help to implement improvement processes and controls to support the business. Be involved in active cash management. Develop an understanding of various global markets and recognise the differences and risks associated with each. Liaise with other internal areas such as front office and finance, as well as external parties including prime brokers and custodians. Personal Skills and Experience: Degree educated with at least a 2:1 achieved at year 2 and expected or achieved 2:1 final grade. Penultimate or final-year university student, or recent graduate. Strong overall academic profile. Demonstrable numeracy skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a strong capacity and desire to use initiative. Ability to provide examples of a pro-active approach to personal development. Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking alongside a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude to all aspects of work.
