For the past five years, Signature Consultants has been voted as one of
the “Best Staffing Firms to Work For” as per a survey published by Staffing
Industry Analysts. With more than 2,000 consultants, 22 offices around the
country, multiple carriers, and legacy phone systems at some locations, the
company faced a serious challenge—it needed a unified network to help
restore reliability and ensure high performance at all of its locations.
How Signature Consultants and
XO Met the Challenge
The company’s Chief Information Officer, Chris Tyrell, took a hard look at
various telecom carriers. Then after a successful pilot, Signature selected XO
Communications to implement an MPLS IP-VPN across its entire enterprise.

• Unified Network—“We really needed a unified network as well as a
strong technology partner for us to create an MPLS-based fiber network
across the enterprise. And as a Citrix® shop, that’s really important
because we need a high class of service and stability in order for that
system to perform across the network.”
• Multi-location Connectivity—“IP Flex with VPN connected all of the
company’s multi-location operations and provided voice, data, and
Internet access.
• Redundancy—Enterprise SIP enabled the company’s voice over IP
systems to communicate across all of its sites and provide failover
redundancy. The company also needed a redundant circuit into its data
center: “XO had to work with our data center and even adjoining facilities
in the area in order to bring in that secondary path. And the best part
about that path is that it’s not only going to offer redundancy, but it’s also
going to load balance, which is going to offer us immeasurable benefit
into the future.”
• Cost Savings—“It’s a cost-effective solution that really costs us about 80
percent of our previous rates. But we’re getting two times to three times
the bandwidth on all of those sites.”
• Uptime—“The uptime is really awesome. We have 99.99% uptime at all
of our sites, which allows our sales and recruiters to really focus on doing
business and allows the IT organization to fight less fires and focus on
adding value to the business.”
