Produced by
in partnership with
Fort Collins Book Festival 2017
When: Saturday, October 21, 2017, 9:00AM – 9:00PM
Where: Multiple locations in downtown Fort Collins including Downtown
Artery, The Music District, Old Town Library, Old Firehouse Books,
Wolverine Farm Letterpress & Publick House, and others!
Theme: “Writings & Riffs” This year’s book festival celebrates the
richness of books, poetry, and music as means of storytelling, selfexpression, and conversation. Each encompasses an extraordinarily wide
array of genres and styles, using similar methods to build narratives,
imagery, and sound. In short, books and music are flip sides of the same
artistic coin. One just needs to look at the recent Nobel Prize in Literature
awarded to writer, singer-songwriter, and musician Bob Dylan.
Who: The general public, especially music enthusiasts; book lovers and poetry fans; the CSU academic and
student community; and literary circles. Expected attendance for the second year is 2,000 people.
Organizers
The Festival is produced by Poudre River Public Library District in partnership with Colorado State University’s
Morgan Library and City of Fort Collins Fort Fund. Additional event contributors include the City of Fort Collins
Office of Economic Development and The Music District.

What is it?
FoCo Book Fest is a free, one-day book festival that features a new topic of interest to our community each
year. The general public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. The Festival hosts author presentations,
panel discussions, book signings, writers’ workshops, readings, book talks, and more at venues throughout
downtown Fort Collins. Poudre River Public Library District produces the Festival in partnership with Colorado
State University’s Morgan Library, and also receives financial support from businesses, organizations, and
individuals.
Why do it?
The northern Colorado community is passionate about arts and culture, especially good literature and inspiring
ideas. The goal of the Festival is to celebrate literary themes that resonate with the community and showcase
the cultural heritage and economic development of the region.
