Theme: “Writings & Riffs” This year’s book festival celebrates the richness of books, poetry, and music as means of storytelling, selfexpression, and conversation. Each encompasses an extraordinarily wide array of genres and styles, using similar methods to build narratives, imagery, and sound. In short, books and music are flip sides of the same artistic coin. One just needs to look at the recent Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to writer, singer-songwriter, and musician Bob Dylan. Who: The general public, especially music enthusiasts; book lovers and poetry fans; the CSU academic and student community; and literary circles. Expected attendance for the second year is 2,000 people. Organizers The Festival is produced by Poudre River Public Library District in partnership with Colorado State University’s Morgan Library and City of Fort Collins Fort Fund. Additional event contributors include the City of Fort Collins Office of Economic Development and The Music District. FoCo Book Fest is a free, one-day book festival that features a new topic of interest to our community each year. The general public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. The Festival hosts author presentations, panel discussions, book signings, writers’ workshops, readings, book talks, and more at venues throughout downtown Fort Collins. Poudre River Public Library District produces the Festival in partnership with Colorado State University’s Morgan Library, and also receives financial support from businesses, organizations, and individuals. Why do it? The northern Colorado community is passionate about arts and culture, especially good literature and inspiring ideas.
