Internally, the Service leads in programme design, practice development, research and data, auditing and monitoring and practice related training. The external focus of the Learning and Development Service consists of producing high quality publications for dissemination, operating a library to serve as a resource for professionals and the general public, providing consultancy on best practices and providing highly regarded professional training. What will the Data Analyst do? The purpose of the Data Analyst is to contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals through the analysis of data in a timely, effective and efficient way. The position is located and line managed within the Learning and Development service. However, the outputs generated may be utilized by other departments in the organisation. The primary element of this role is to develop and maintain the strength of our data collection through design and usage of the Barnardos Children’s Services Database. Job Purpose The purpose of the Data Analyst in Barnardos is to contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals through the analysis of data in a timely, effective and efficient way. Core Job Requirements Database and Record Keeping systems Oversee the development, implementation and utilization of Barnardos Children’s Services Database. Perform data analysis and interpret results to meet the organisation’s operational, research and strategic requirements. Monitor integrity and completeness of data. Support leadership in obtaining missing or additional data. Ensure data errors are addressed. Produce reports, graphs, tables, charts, etc., that effectively present data to review by Management, Board of Directors, and Barnardos’ project staff. Participate in the development, design and implementation of Barnardos Electronic Record Keeping System. Work with field staff to understand and utilise our database. Provide oral and written guidance on issues related to social work practice and the database with guidance from the Database Implementation Group. Develops systems and processes to make data available to all stakeholders including families, staff, funding agencies, and the general public. General To prepare and submit funding proposals in consultation with the Assistant Director. Ensure that the protection and welfare of children is a primary concern of all staff and that, when child protection issues arise, Barnardos policies and procedures are fully adhered to. Person Specification Data Analyst Qualifications Education to leaving certificate or equivalent minimum level of education essential. A relevant qualification in data analysis and/or evaluation highly desirable. An interest in issues affecting the wellbeing of children and families in Ireland would be beneficial. Experience Required A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with CRM databases or statistical software to an advanced level. Proven qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills including attention to detail. Knowledge of and experience with database design and best practice. Knowledge of and experience with CRM Dynamics Experience of disseminating data analysis to a variety of audiences. Experience of working with people at a variety of levels in an organisation Strong statistical computing skills, including SPSS.
