Divisional Honorary Team Manager London & South East U20s Programme The London Divisional U20’s programme is looking to appoint an Honorary Team Manager to manage the squad in this season’s Divisional Championship. The post has become available due to the postholder completing his term of appointment. The RFU Player Pathway Task Group accepted that U20 County Championship rugby has real value in creating interest, enriching the Community Game, driving up quality and aiding retention of all participants. To strengthen the U20 County Championship an England representative team operates at this age, with players having to have played in the County Championship to be eligible. The Team Manager will support the Divisional U20s XV Management Team & Divisional Delivery Team to produce a successful team on and off the field. The responsibilities include supporting the playing programme for the Division, including facilitating match preparation in accordance with RFU policies. The applicant should be generally respected as a person of authority within the game with a background in County or divisional rugby. They will demonstrate the organisational and management skills commensurate with such a position, combined with tact and diplomacy. The information you provide will only be used for monitoring purposes. www.rfu.com HONORARY TEAM MANAGER, LONDON DIVISION U20S XV ROLE DESCRIPTION REPORTS TO: Honorary Chairman, London Divisional U20s XV KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Divisional U20s Chairman of Selectors, Coaching & Medical Staff; RFU Staff, Divisional & CB U20s Volunteers, England Counties XV Manager & England Students Manager NATURE & SCOPE OF JOB: The post-holder will assist the Chairman in all aspects of the running the London Divisional U20s programme & Team. The Team Manager is responsible for the logistical organisation, pitch side management at matches and communication with players and fellow Team management. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Liaise with transport providers and hotels on a daily basis to ensure the squad’s requirements are fulfilled. 2. Ensure that all training facilities and equipment are available and meet the requirements of the coaching staff. 3. Ensure all medical equipment and facilities are available and of the required standard set by the medical team. 4. Ensure match day venues are prepared to RFU Community Game Board / Player Development SubCommittee Standards, and that all match preparation equipment is available. 5. Take responsibility for pitch-side management at matches. 6. Oversee the distribution (and where appropriate the collecting back) of playing kit on match days 7. Ensure information is disseminated to team management, coaches and players on daily basis 8. Assist in ensuring that the management team and playing squad present themselves as ambassadors for the Rugby Football Union, and uphold the core values of the game and adhere to the Code of Conduct. 9. Attend the meetings of the London Division U20s Delivery Team to assist with the development of the U20s XV and CB U20s competition. 10. Support the divisional and national selection processes. 11. Contribute to an annual review of the programme. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES Committed, enthusiastic to player development and rugby union. Punctual, reliable and personally well organised. Able to communicate effectively with a range of people (management, hosts and service providers) to ensure delivery of the programme’s objectives. Is able to work under direction of the Chairman and support the needs of the wider Management Team. Management experience of rugby teams at county or divisional levels. Sound understanding of the RFU performance pathway for players. ACCOUNTABILITIES: The post holder is accountable to the U20s Team Manager for the successful delivery of the responsibilities as outlined above. The post holder will work closely with relevant RFU professional staff, Chairmen of Playing of the RFU’s County Constituent Bodies, and the Directors of Rugby (or their equivalent) of Clubs playing in National League (Level 3) Clubs and below.
