Collaboration Grants
Stockholm University’s ambition is to develop and strengthen collaboration with Swedish nonacademic society. For this reason, SU is announcing grants whose primary purpose is to
support meaningful partnerships between employees or institutions at SU and organisations
and individuals outside SU. Processes and principles of this project will be developed as the
project progresses.
Grants of up to 100 000 SEK per application will be given from the 1,6 million SEK fund during
this first test phase, which will last up to two years or until the financial resource is used up.
Applications can be send in at any time and will be considered three times per term.
Projects that are granted funding can begin immediately. One ground rule is that the money
will not be given directly to the applicant. Instead, the applicant can do the following: submit
receipts and receive compensation, provide an invoice from anyone involved in cooperation
directly to the External Relations and Communications Office (Samverkansavdelningen), or
strike a deal and present a budget. A formal report is due within four weeks after the project
has been completed.
Decisions on grants up to 10,000 SEK will be made by the appointed Liaison Officer (“lokal
samverkanskoordinator”), while grants between 10,000 and 100,000 will be considered by the
Coordination board for collaboration and innovation (the Swedish acronym is SOSI).
History
Following SU’s report on existing forms of collaboration and partnerships to Vinnova, the
university has been granted money to further such endeavours, which for the next two years
will be given in form of collaboration grants. In spring 2015, a general report on collaboration
and the information provided by the appointed Liaison Officers since then have made clear
that there is a need for start-up grants for more meaningful and stronger projects between SU
and partners outside academia. The money is needed to strengthen existing ties and projects
but more importantly to create new partnerships.

Purpose of Collaboration Grants
The purpose is to strengthen existing and start new partnerships and cooperation projects
between SU and potential partners in Swedish non-academic society.
Rules
Who can apply?
The applicant should be an employee at SU. They could be a teacher or researcher.
What can the grants be used for?
An example of activities could be a match-making event or other forms of events whose
purpose is a creation of contact. Another example would be buying time or expertise
necessary for a particular cooperation, study, or similar endeavours.
Evaluations of applications
Evaluations are based on the potential in the specified collaboration. We look at the primary
purpose, mutual benefit, possible outcomes, and plausibility of the project. The mutual
benefit or added value for both parties is a key criterion.
Applications will be evaluated by SOSI, i.e. the Coordination board for collaboration and
innovation (The current list of SOSI members and appointed Liaison Officers/lokala
samverkanskoordinatorer is attached.)
Application process


The applicant submits a completed form (see below) to the appointed Liaison Officer
(see attachment), who will then do one preliminary evaluation and contact the
applicant if more information is needed.
Liaison Officers can grant applications up to 10 000 SEK while SOSI will deal with
grants between 10 000 - 100 000 SEK. Overhead costs will not be paid.
Applications will be evaluated as they arrive but at least three times per term.
Evaluations are based on the potential in the specified collaboration. We look at
primary purpose, mutual benefit, possible outcome, and plausibility of the project.
Applications which do not further mutual benefit between partners will be rejected.
Decisions will be sent out by the appointed Liaison Officer. No detailed feedback will
be provided to unsuccessful applicants.
