Equipment
•
•
The balls used are soft sponge coated, approximately football sized.
Players should be comfortable participating in this activity and aware that they will be hit by
balls throughout the evening. Players must wear suitable attire for being active.
Rules made simple!
•
•
•
•
•
•
If you throw a ball that hits an opponent without bouncing in your own half first, they are
eliminated
If you throw a ball that an opponent catches that doesn’t bounce first, you are eliminated
If you catch a ball without it bouncing first, the opponent who threw it is out, ALSO an
eliminated teammate can re-join the game
Games last until you eliminate all opponents or 5 minutes has been played.
The winning team is the team that has eliminated all opponents or has the most amount of
players still on court at the end of the 5 minutes.
The gender split will be as determined by Big Wave Media organisers.
Rules
To eliminate opposition players
Throwing a ball
•
•
•
•
•
If you throw a ball that hits an opposition player then they are eliminated (unless an opposition player
catches it). Balls must hit an opposition player below head height.
If you throw a ball that hits an opposition player and rebounds to hit another player both players are
out (multiple hits are ok!)
The ball can hit the ground first in the opposition half before then hitting a player.
If the thrown ball bounces in your own half, the ball is deemed as ‘dead’ and can not eliminate an
opposition player.
If a ball goes outside of the playing area and rebounds into the court striking an opposition player,
then they are not eliminated.
Receiving a thrown ball
•
•
If you catch securely a thrown ball that has remained in the playing area, then the player who threw
the ball is eliminated and one of your teammates can re-join the game.
A catch is the control of the ball for 2 seconds, catching the ball between your legs is permitted!
•
•
After the ball strikes a player then the ball must be caught before it leaves the playing area or hits the
ground for the player not to be eliminated. A player must stay in the playing area to catch the ball – if
a player is hit then leaves the playing area to catch it they are eliminated
If a player is hit by a ball which rebounds and is caught by a team mate (in play), the player who threw
the ball is out.
