The goal of handball is to throw the ball into
the opponents net


There are five players and one goalie in the
game
Each player is only allowed to take three steps
with the ball
◦ After they must either pass or shoot the ball

Only the goalie is allowed in the forbidden
zone
◦ The goalie is not allowed out of the forbidden zone

There are unlimited passes per team

The game starts with a pass forward at the
halfway line
◦ Similar to soccer

If the ball is knocked out on the sideline the team
the team that did not knock out the ball gets to
throw in from the sideline
◦ Similar to soccer


If the goalie makes a save and it is knocked out
the back line the goalie still gets the ball
If a defensive player steps in the forbidden zone
it is penalty shot
◦ From the top of the forbidden zone

If an offensive player steps inside the
forbidden zone then the goalie gets the ball
and play continues
◦ Only exception is if they throw the ball before they
touch the ground



Players are not allowed to take the ball out of
an opposing players hands
To take the ball it must be dropped or
intercepted
When a goal is scored the game begins with a
forward pass at the halfway line

Give and go
◦ Pass to a player on your team
◦ Run away from the defender
◦ Catch a pass back from the
player

Moving to open space
◦ Move away from other players
on the court
◦ Can do this through fakes and
speed
