Getting Started with the EHR Provider Incentive Program
Prior to creating accounts at the CMS level and the MS State Level Registry
Make sure that the MS DOM Provider Master File is updated
License Updated
Payee Information current (NPI and TIN)
Have received at least one paid claim from MS DOM
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible Professionals
Physicians (MD); Dentists; Nurse Practitioners (NP); Certified Nurse Mid Wife;
Physicians Assistants (PA) (under the direction of a Physician in an FQHC or RHC);
Doctors of Optometry (DO)
Minimum of 30% Medicaid patient volume during a 90-day period
90-days from previous calendar year
More than 90 days from previous calendar year
12-months from previous calendar year
Any 90-day period within the 12-months preceding attestation (new for 2013)
Creating Accounts
CMS – Registration and Attestation System (NPI, SSN, Payee NPI and TIN, type of EP –
physicians)
MS SLR - (Contact Info, NPI, Medicaid ID, License No, Licensing Board, Payee Medicaid ID, MS
Patient Volume Calculator, Contract, Supporting Practice documentation, CEHRT Number)
Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT)*
In-Office system
Web-based applications
*Should be capable of meeting Meaningful Use Criteria as defined by CMS and The Office of National
Coordinator (ONC). All EHR software will have to be re-certified to meet new 2014 Criteria.
Program Years and Payment Years
Program Year One Adopt / Implement / Upgrade (AIU)
Payment Year One = $21,250.000
Program Year Two Meaningful Use (MU)
MU Payment Yr one = $8,500
Program Years Three – Six Meaningful Use (MU)
MU Payment Yrs 2 – 5 = $8,500 each year
When a provider reaches Meaningful Use their first two MU years are considered Stage 1 MU
Providers spend two years in each Stage of the program
Stage One Meaningful Use = 2 years
Stage Two Meaningful Use = 2 years
Stage Three Meaningful Use = 2 years
