Swisscontact invites applications from qualified candidates for the following position: Officer- Communications & Advocacy Location: Dhaka with possible visits to field locations Reports to: Project Managers Purpose: Support two specific projects of Swisscontact-Bangladesh in advocacy & communications (internal and external). Essential Functions and Responsibilities Lead the communication activities and ensure compliance with Communication Strategy and Communication guideline of the projects; Develop case studies/success stories and various communication tools following the project mandate and ensure that the communication materials are distributed and broadcasted following the donor approved communication plan; Prepare and publish press release, web releases as required by the projects; Support project managers in project implementation through strategic use of communication tools and techniques; Assist the projects to facilitate and manage all the policy related interventions; Maintain liaison with different stakeholders including government agencies e.g. Bangladesh Nursing Council (BNC), Directorate General of Health and Services (DGHS), Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh (SMF), Ministry of Finance etc. Organize different types of events (internal and external) e.g. meeting, seminar, workshop, awareness campaigns and day celebration etc. Assist the team leader in writing regular reports, concept notes and proposals; Ensure mainstreaming of gender related issues into intervention strategies as the gender focal person. www.swisscontact.org/southasia Skills and Experience The individual must demonstrate that he/she has the following knowledge and can perform the essential functions, with or without regular supervision, using a combination of knowledge, skills and experience: Passionate and committed about developing career in development and social communication At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science; Development Studies; Economics, Business or any other relevant discipline. At least 2 to 3 years of professional work experience in advocacy & communications. Experience in working with the high officials of GO, NGO/INGOs, press, private sector, commercial/ media and donor agencies will be an added advantage. Excellent report writing skills Expertise in producing advocacy & communication tools & material using various communication and visual software, particularly for public and social media Advanced communication skills in both English and Bangla (verbal and written) Excellent computer literacy in Windows Office programs Ability to work in a team to deliver within deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment Physical Demands Field visits may be necessary; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
