Pre-season coaching treat in Milford Haven
Pembrokeshire squash players were given a
pre-season coaching treat recently at Milford
Haven Leisure Centre.
David Evans visited Meads squash club.
David was a former World Number 3 and
British Open Champion, he is one of the
finest players to ever come out of Wales and
is now passing on his wealth of knowledge to
other players who look to reach their
potential.
David who was Director of Squash in Jersey for 4 years after finishing on the
professional tour, he represented Wales as a senior player, over 150 times at
World, European and Commonwealth team Championships.
The highest Welsh player on the PSA tour, and the
first and last Welsh player to win the most prestigious
events in squash; the British Open.
David now passes on his knowledge in his High
Performance coaching role with WSRB and recently
travelled to the European team Championships, the
first time in over 10 years David has not played at the
championships but he led as a coach off the court.
David delivered 9 coaching sessions at the Meads to
players from all over the county, juniors and seniors.
Pete Crook commented, “to have a coach and player of his stature working with
the players from Pembrokeshire was a real treat and it was not all about the
players, coaches came to watch and learn from David as he took the various
sessions which was invaluable to their learning”.
“What amazed me was David went on court at 2pm and apart from meeting the
next group came off court at 10pm without a break, I was shattered just watching
the sessions. And as you may guess everyone is asking when he can come back,
the quality of his sessions the feedback for improvement was fantastic and I
personally cannot thank David enough for his time and the knowledge he passed
on to both players and coaches”.
