Albion Soccer Club – 2016 Indoor Tournament Rules
Penalties:
Free Kicks:
Sliding:
Ejections:
All restarts are from the point of infraction and are INDIRECT KICKS. If in the opinion of
the Referee a goal scoring opportunity is denied in the penalty box, a penalty shot will be given.
No sliding allowed by floor players. Slide tackles result in automatic yellow card.
The goalie may slide within the taped goal area to get the ball. Sliding to “take out” a player is
not allowed. The goalie must be going for the ball. Sliding to save a goal in the sudden death
period of play will result in an ejection of a player for remainder of the game. So that team could have
to play a man down during the remaining period of sudden death.
Yellow Card: Player must leave the game for a minimum of two minutes. The team must
“play down” one player for two minutes, regardless if it is a player or a coach who
received the yellow card. Player may return after 2 minutes, regardless of a goal being scored.
Red Card: The player (or coach) is ejected for the remainder of the tournament. They must leave
the gym area. The team must “play down” one player for two minutes, regardless if it is a player
or a coach who received the red card. If a coach receives a red card, the team must have
another adult present in order to continue the game. Failure to have an adult results in a forfeit.
Time:
Games should last approx. 12-14 minutes. Games will be scheduled every 15 minutes.
Warm-up time on the court has not been built into the schedule.
Substitutions:
May be made on all dead balls and on the fly. Can be made when the player coming out is
within the bench area.
Goalkeepers:
When the goalie has caught the ball they have seven seconds to release the ball.
The keeper must put the ball into play with a throw or a roll. When a goalie throws or
rolls the ball, it must hit a player, wall, or the floor before it crosses the mid-court line.
If the goalie has caught the ball and rolls it outside of the goalie area, they may not kick it.
(it hasn’t been put “into play” until it hits another player or the wall). Repeat, whenever a goalie
has the ball in their hands, they must put the ball into play with a throw or roll. The goalie must
have one foot within the box when picking up the ball.
Goal Kicks:
Ball will be put into play with a goalie throw.
Multiple Teams: A field player may play on teams in more than one age bracket as long as they are grade appropriate,
but only ONE team per age bracket.
Goalies may play for up to two teams in the same age bracket as long as they do not play on
the field for any game in that age bracket.
Player Attire:
All players must be wearing shin guards, and cannot be wearing watches or jewelry that could cause
harm during play (Referee has final say on acceptable jewelry). Players will not be allowed to play until
wearing proper shin guards and/or have removed their watch or harmful jewelry.
HIGH SCHOOL GYM (for the JV Boys, JV Girls, Varsity Girls, & Varsity Boys):
Scoreboard:
We have a major concern with balls hitting the scoreboard in the H.S. gym:
A:
If, in the opinion of the referee a player strikes or attempts to strike the scoreboard
On purpose, that player will be ejected (red card) from the match and will be removed from
the tournament.
B:
If, in the opinion of the Referee, a player strikes the scoreboard by accident the play
will stop, the player will be verbally cautioned and an Indirect Free Kick will be given to the
opposing team at midcourt. If this happens a second time, the player may be verbally warned
or shown a caution (yellow card).
Out of Bounds: Any ball that hits the wall above the purple line, or anything higher than the purple line (such as
the ceiling, scoreboard, basketball backboards, wires, etc.), and any ball that goes into the
bleachers. Re-starts are free (indirect) kicks.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GYM (for the Elem. Boys, Elem. Girls, Jr. High Boys, & Jr. High Girls):
Out of Bounds: The bleachers and anything above the lower row of acoustical tiles is out of bounds.
Plus anything hanging from the ceiling (such as the yellow ropes).
The goalie puts the ball into play with a roll or throw.
Tie Breakers:
In case of a tie in pts. to determine a championship (brackets of 4 teams) or to determine which teams will advance
to a championship (or play-off) game:
1. Head to Head competition.
2. Goals Differential (max of 3)
