Entry Fees and late entry details
Refreshments
The entry fee for all sections is £22. Players in the
Reserves sections who are not ECF Platinum, Gold,
or Silver members will be required to pay a £6
surcharge (Juniors £4).
The congress would welcome offers to organise
refreshments.

Entries after Monday 19 August are subject to a £3
late entry fee. Entries will not be accepted by
telephone or on the day, or on Friday 23rd August
except for entries that arrive through the post.
British Championship Qualifying Place
The highest-placed eligible player in the
Championship who has not already qualified for the
2014 British Chess Championship will receive an
unfunded qualifying place.

Sections, Grading and ECF Membership
Trophies
ENTRY FORM
Players will play in sections according to their latest
ECF grade. All sections will be ECF graded. The
Championship and Challengers sections will be FIDE
Rated. The FIDE-rated sections are open to all rated
players and to unrated players with ECF grades of
150 or above. The Reserves sections are open to all
unrated players and to rated players with ratings
below 1900. Players eligible for both the rated
sections and the Reserves are asked to specify which
section they would prefer to play in. All English
players in the Championship and Challengers sections
must be Gold or Platinum members of the ECF, and
new players must give their date of birth. ECF
membership is not compulsory for players in the
reserve sections, but is encouraged, and Bronze ECF
members and non-members will be required to pay a
£6 surcharge (Juniors £4). Players may join the ECF

The winner of the Championship will hold The
Championship Cup.
The winner of the
Challengers will hold The Challengers Cup. The
winner of Reserves “A” will hold The Alan Cox
Cup. The highest placed Berkshire player will
hold the Berkshire Individual Championship Cup
in accordance with the rules of the Berkshire
Chess Association. The Mrs J. Stean Trophy will
be presented to the most promising player aged
under 14 on the first day of the congress. There
will be trophies to keep for section winners,
runners up, and most third place players.

The rate of play in all tournaments is 100 minutes for
40 moves, then an additional 20 minutes for the rest
of the game with a 30 second cumulative increment
for each move starting from the first move. Players
arriving more than one hour late will be defaulted.
