Schweizer Purpose ECS 2017 will print and hand out during the Symposium registration a book of extended abstracts of all accepted oral and poster papers. To facilitated the printing process, and to keep its costs as low as possible, we are kindly asking all authors to prepare a 3-page extended abstract by using the attached WORD template. All abstracts have to be submitted in form of a WORD file. Strictly adhering to the format of the template and following the instructions below will allow us to then prepare a master PDF file that is ready to print. Please carefully read the following instructions and use them accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me in case of questions. 1 Schweizer Coating Consulting GmbH 1 Title, Authors and Affiliations Use the format as shown in the template. Underline the name of the speaker and provide the e-mail address of the corresponding author. 2 Key Words Add a few. 3 Structure of the Abstract Choose a few Section titles as appropriate, perhaps starting with an introduction/motivation for your work and ending with conclusions, as well as a list of references, if applicable. 4 Format Please take the template and fill in the text according to your presentation, but do not change any of the formats such as font style and size, header and footer, page layout and margins, etc. Do not write anything into the footer or header; do not add any page numbers. 4.1 Page Page size: A4 (will be reduced in printed book) 4.2 Paragraph Format of paragraph: Blocksatz Distance before paragraph: 0 points Distance after paragraph: 6 points Distance after paragraph in references: 3 points 4.3 Fonts Font type: Times New Roman Font size for title of paper: 14 Font size for chapter titles: 11 Font size for normal text: 10 2 Schweizer Coating Consulting GmbH 4.4 Figures If you use figures then please first introduce a table consisting of at least 2 cells, one for the figure and one for the figure caption underneath the figure. If the figure is small, you can fill the space to the left or right of the figure with normal text, see example Figures 1-3 below and in the template. After the figure, the caption and the normal text next to the figure are all in place I suggest you remove the black lines outlining the table cells. If you do not use any figures then please delete the sample figures in the template. Figure 3: Example of an optimized dual-cavity die. 4.5 Equations If you use equations, then please use the equation tool provided by WORD, i.e. Insert/Equation/Insert new equation/. This tool is quite versatile and flexible. Before introducing an equation please first introduce a table consisting of 2 cells, one for the equation and one for the equation number to the right of the equation, see example below.
