Call for Abstracts
Would you like to share your work at this year’s Maternal and Early Years conference?
The conference planning group is inviting you to show case your work. We’re looking for
creative, innovative and challenging practice examples of how you are delivering in partnership
to reach the most vulnerable children and their families.
The purpose of our call for abstracts is to:
 provide a platform for the voice of the early years practitioners at the national
conference
 enrich the national programme with insight from our early years workforce
 share promising and challenging local practice and enable meaningful discussion
 ignite valuable and lasting relationships
The theme of the 2015 Conference is The Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 (C&YP
Act). The programme includes plenary presentations from NHS Health Scotland, Scottish
Government, Education Scotland and Third Sector colleagues, with a focus on how partnerships
are enabling responsive action to delivery.
The conference planning group welcome submissions of work originating from, or being
accelerated by, the Act which are improving health outcomes, tackling health inequalities and
igniting or reinforcing partnership working under the following themes:

A multiagency approach to GIRFEC (e.g. Health, Education and Social Services)delivering effectively in partnership
Corporate parenting -policy into practice
Early Learning and Childcare – Making it better for Scotland’s Two’s
Effective Third Sector Collaboration- a local practice example
The Early Years Collaborative - improving the quality of health outcomes for children
Health & Justice- Better Health, Better Care for Children with families, parent(s) or carer(s)
in the criminal justice system
Tackling Child Poverty- delivering a better deal for children and young people in low-income
families
Your submission may be an example of evidence & research, delivery or evaluation practice under
the themes identified above and could relate, for example, to any of the following; identification of
target populations, prevention, early intervention, embedding services into mainstream practice,
capacity and skills building, design of interventions, health inequalities impact assessment,
equalities impact assessment, improvement and quality of practice.

Please note that we will not accept submissions for work which has a commercial link or
benefit.

(by reply email).
Submissions will be considered by the Maternal and Early Years Network Reference Network
Group. Following review in early April, successful applications will be notified as soon as possible.
Registration instructions, parallel session and marketplace briefs will be shared at this time.
All submissions will also be considered for entry as a case study to the Maternal and Early Years
Network website and newsletter in due course, communication on this will follow the conference
delivery.
The Maternal and Early Years Network is grateful for your consideration and time commitment on
