Condenser Coils for Carrier ThinLINE units.
Please ensure all engineering staff are made aware of the following.
Carrier has announced that as a result of their ongoing research to improve
the long term reliability of their ThinLINE units, the following up-grade
should be carried out on all Condenser coils fitted to our ThinLINE units,
(those Carrier units fitted with reciprocating compressors).
By removing the top left hand mounting bolt on the condenser coil, as
detailed in the attached Carrier bulletin, will enhance the life of the
condenser coil. Please can you ensure this modification is carried out on all
our ThinLINE units during PTI/repair. This can be claimed in Merc+ under
STS code 5430, and allows 0.1 hr in modes 41 & 43.
When fitting a new condenser coil to a ThinLINE unit, this bolt should not
be installed. New condenser coils being supplied as replacement by Carrier
may not have the bolt hole; therefore no action needs to be taken.
This modification covers replacement part numbers 81-01575-00SV and
69NT43-202-20.
Please also be advised that part number 81-01575-00SV has now been
superseded by 81-04046-00SV. Merc+ has been up-dated accordingly.
Please continue to use up your stocks of 81-01575-00SV, however you will
need to use part number 81-04046-00SV for in-put in to Merc+.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions with
regards to the above.

Subject: ThinLINE® Condenser Coil
As a result of ongoing research to improve the long term reliability of the ThinLINE
unit, Carrier Transicold has identified and implemented a design enhancement on new
unit production. This enhancement involves the elimination of a bolt from the back
wall left header side of the condenser coil, effective with s/n MSU 60321497(Feb
2010) production.
This design enhancement can also be implemented on ThinLINE units that were
manufactured between 2003 and 2009. For equipment owners & operators interested
in making the upgrade, it can be easily accomplished during the units Pre-Trip or
regular maintenance interval by simply removing the top bolt from the back wall left
side of the condenser coil and caulking the hole, as shown in the photos below.
3 row / 7 mm condenser coil (part number 81-01575-00)
If a replacement coil is fitted into the unit then this bolt should be left off. PPG 7mm
replacement coils will not have the bolt hole.
This enhancement does not affect EliteLINE®, StreamLINE® or PrimeLINE®
products.
