On Valentines Day our second son was born. Andrew George came into the world weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces, and 21.5 inches long. We are all adjusting to being a family of four. Caleb has been a good big brother so far, liking to touch Andrew’s hair, read books with him, help burp him, and share his toys with him. He has already rolled over twice, and is growing into a big boy. We are thankful he doesn’t fight sleep, but a little longer at night would be great. Caleb will be two in May, and Andrew is almost 6 weeks. Hard to believe how fast the time goes. Save the Date! Golf Tournament Summer Four person scramble at Beaver Creak in Grimes, IA Peaches Summer Come buy some great Colorado peaches and support our ministry. Camp August 1-5 Middle school camp at Sunsteam camp ground in Boone, IA. Adding a second child isn’t the only change we are going through as a family. Kristi is now a stay at home mom, and learning how to take care of two kids. It will take some time to get in the groove of what it looks like to run and keep our house going, but the adjustment is going well and starting to develop a little rhythm to our week. She is starting to get together with other moms and venture to stores with both kids. I have now started full time with YFC, and am learning how to use an extra 24 hours a week to focus on YFC work. It has been great to get to spend more time with students, get a prayer e-mail started, and learning how to do ministry better. We are thankful that Kristi is able to stay at home, and are excited to see how the ministry will grow. City Life High School We have been having some really good discussions at our high school club. We are going through a student leader curriculum, which YFC produced, with the boys and they have really responded to the topics. Some topics discussed so far are accountability and having others around you to be open and honest with how life is going, and multiplying your life – sharing the gospel with friends and people around you. One student, while we were talking about our need to let others into our lives, asked me about something I struggle with. After I shared about my life, he responded that he would be praying for me, and his brother shared a story from the Bible that related to what I experience. It was an encouraging, but humbling experience to be ministered to by our students. For as well as things are going with the boys we are struggling with the girls in the ministry. We haven’t had any girls come to club the last couple weeks. We have 4 girls that would faithfully come, two sets of two friends. Recently we learned that something happened between one set of friends so that they don’t talk to each other any more. The other set have a strong pull to live a normal urban teen life, and have been living and seeking that life as of late. It is real disappointing when we see their Facebook posts about the anger, drama, and frustrations with their lives and friends, but they don’t have a way to change things, be willing to talk about it, or have interest in the Lord. We went to Chuck -e- Cheese for a fun event after Andrew was born. Most of our kids hadn’t been there before and had a great time playing basketball against each other and turning in their tickets for candy. It also gives the adults a chance to have fun, building memories and better relationships with the kids. 2 Soccer, Pancakes, and Comedy Cafe We made it through another indoor soccer season. We found a home this year at Moulton Elementary School, about two blocks from our house in the middle of our neighborhood. The gym worked out better then expected because it had bench seating above the gym to keep all the kids corralled while they weren’t playing. We ended the year with about 80 kids coming on a Friday. While kids weren’t playing they were playing Uno or other games with our volunteers, I never knew how fun Uno could be. We are thankful for so many kids coming and we see that we are meeting a need for kids. In the 2.5 hours we are in the gym, they only play soccer for about 25 min. but they still come and have a great time. So it is more than soccer that keeps them coming. We took a break from Sunday morning pancakes when Andrew was born. I was encouraged the first time our family made it to church and we saw many of our pancake kids at church. The kids still wanted to go and we had people that could give them a ride. I was thankful for our volunteers going to get them. We have started back up now, and we are back making a ton of pancakes, playing and cheating at Uno, and having a good time Sunday mornings. Our 4th Comedy Café fundraiser happened on Feb. 28th. Daren Streblow was our comedian and had us all laughing with his awkward stories of his life. We were so thankful for the chance to share what the Lord is doing and where we are going as a ministry with about 300 people. We are thankful for so many people who helped make the event a success and for the sacrificial giving of so many people. Praises and Prayers - Andrew born healthy and safely - Working through a discipleship book with Angel and his reading of the Bible - High School boys desire for the Lord - Good indoor soccer season 3 - Wisdom and finances for a building in the neighborhood - Wisdom for the summer ministry plans - Kids would want to come to YFCamp in Aug. - Our family as we adjust to new jobs and a growing family - Our students would have soft hearts to the gospel and a love for God.
