Moreover, at the end of this process line they will put their own painting line. He pointed out that with that capacity the factory will be a welcomed player in the market. “As far as I hope and foresee we will be able to have a pretty big chunk of the cake, especially in industrial fields which we would like to concentrate on”, Frijns added. A new player for Qatar’s steel sector With over 50 years of experience and highly skilled employees within our 3 locations, the Frijns Industrial Group is about to bring its expertise to Qatar. Frijns is a Dutch based company that produces, erects and provides services for industrial constructions. Rob Frijns, the general manager of Frijns Industrial Group, picked up the idea to setup a company in the Middle East. “I have been looking where to establish myself for a few years now and we chose Qatar as the place to be for our business. We found a well known and influential partner in the State of Qatar and we are almost ready to start a modern production facility north of the capital Doha”, Rob Frijns said. He explained that one and a half years ago Frijns Industrial Group established a cooperation with the Al Faisal Group. Since then the company has been looking for available land. “Now we received 20,000 sq.m of land in Sheikh Faisal bin Kassem Al Thani’s farm at Al Shahaniya and we will have 50,000 sq.m. of land in Mesaeed industrial city in the near future”. Rob Frijns already started a LLP for structural steel in Qatar under the name of Frijns Structural Steel Middle East. Frijns Structural Steel Middle East will produce steel for the process industry including all necessary engineering, manufacturing, painting and erection. “The factory in Shahaniyawill definitely start working at the end of this year, while the Mesaeed factory will take one more year to start production. In Mesaeed our factory will be very big and very modern. In Shahaniya factory we can have a soft start until the other factory is ready”, Rob Frijns said. He added “We want to get started as soon as possible because we think the market is ready for our products. We will bring a lot of our know-how to Qatar especially in the field of process management” He pointed out that everybody knows how to manufacture steel, but it’s very important how to manage this manufacturing process to optimize quality and capacity and minimize cost through a good system. “I have been visiting all GCC countries but in Qatar the forecasts for the country in the industrial side are optimistic and I just felt home in Qatar. The company will be an asset to the structural steel sector in the country regarding design, efficiency and meeting delivery times”, he said. Despite the fact that , the new company will not stand alone, the percentage of Dutch influence in the new factory will always be felt, with one goal in mind; to learn from each other so there will be training courses for the inexperienced laborers to increase their efficiency. Project highlights * Frijns Steel Construction Venray constructs glass lift shaft and stairways for VDI in Zevenaar In cooperation with Absoluut-Scheuten glas BV, Frijns Venray developed a lift shaft mainly covered with glass and surrounded with glass stairways and banisters. Because the ground floor front and back façades fully consist of glass, the challenge was to develop multiple ingenious adaptations to realize a transparent appearance for the lift shaft. The shaft was fully constructed in Venray. It had a total height of 13 m. The shaft was provided with 2100 * 2800 mm dimensioned glass panels with laminated float glass 8.8.2. Stairways and terraces were constructed from glass steps 50mm thick. Banisters were mounted with blank float glass and brushed stainless steel guard railings. tons of steel for new development and * 100 renovation in the ODA project Sittard For Laudy Bouw, Frijns Industrial Group realized a renovation and new development in the ODA project in Sittard. A total of 100 tons of steel in THQ joists and balcony support structures will be produced. To make the ODA project work, a new passage needed to be created. A complex indoor support structure was created to enable safe execution of demolition work. After this, a 23 m. long gantry joist was placed so that remaining concrete floors could be removed. The construction of the new service center was done using a special joist allowing the roof to slope two ways. New headquarters for Politie Limburg Zuid For BAM Utility Construction ltd. Region Maastricht, Frijns Industrial Group will deliver 60 tons of steel for roof construction, stairways, banisters, guard railings etc. as construction parts of the newly build office building for Politie Limburg Zuid. The new headquarters will serve as the new operations center for the South Limburg region. The new building has the shape of an ellipse and is build on pile foundations. The substructure consists of in concrete poured foundation beams, prefab concrete walls, and broad-/ channel plate floors as main supporting structure. The ground floor front façade consists of clean brickwork with large garage and industry doors. Higher storey’s are equipped with aluminium facades with composite aluminium panels. The roof construction consists of a moist averting layer, insulation and synthetic roofing materials with glass roofing, covering the Atrium. The building was designed by JHK Architects (Utrecht, The Netherlands). Move of saltpeter plant from IJmuiden to Geleen. Frijns Industrial Group will take care of the move and the completely new built steel construction of this plant in Geleen. The total construction will contain over 250 tons of steel. Next to this Frijns Industrial Group will take care of delivery and assembly of all doors, gates and louvered doors. Also steel wall covering is part of the order. Extension of library Helmond. For Heeswijk Bouw BV Eindhoven, Frijns Industrial Group will convert 55 tons of steel in the rebuilding of the Helmond Library on the second floor. A new 5 ton roof construction is also part of the order.
