Mortara Instrument, Inc. ELI LINK Service Training Author Date E. Roider March 2010 ELI Link- What is it? • What is ELI Link? ELI Link is a FREE product from Mortara Instrument that allows Electrocardiograph users to transmit their ECG’s to an EMR system/Standalone computer for reviewing/storage. The Electrocardiograph(s) must be configured with at least ONE connectivity option. The ECG’s can be stored in the following formats: – ELI (Mortara Unipro format) – XML – Mortara XML – PDF ELI Link Output Folder Location PDF Options Comm Input Options XML Orders Configuration Options (Non-DICOM) Import folder to convert Unipro files to Output folder filetypes Codepage used for different languages 1252 For: English & Western European Languages 1250 For: Central & Eastern European Languages including Polish, Hungarian and Czech. More about DICOM later in Presentation! Ways to connect • There are four ways that ECG’s can be transmitted to ELI Link – – – – • 1. 2. 3. 4. Direct Connect (RS232 Serial Port Connection)-Must use Mortara cable LAN WLAN Modem ECG Import – Another way to send ECGs into ELI Link Requirements • A computer running Microsoft® Windows – – – XP Professional Server 2008 Windows 7 Depending on transmission mode the following will be required: RS232 Serial Port RS232 Download Cable Network Interface Card (NIC Card) Network Switch / Router / Access point Network Cables Modem RS232 Port Modem to computer cable Telephone Cable Installing ELI Link • Key points to consider – – – – – Eli Link is installed by double-clicking on the Setup icon. Select ‘EVERYONE’, as opposed to ‘Just Me’ Prepare to enter a key if enabling DICOM communication (A command Prompt window will be displayed to enter the key) Ensure that the server/CPU is rebooted after installation to COMPLETE the installation There are two paths that ELI Link can be installed into depending on what version is being installed: • C:\Program Files\Mortara Instrument Inc\ELI Link • C:\Mortara Instrument Inc\ELI Link – Older versions of ELI Link are called MGATE, and most MGATE versions are installed to the following path: • C:\Program Files\Mortara Instrument Inc\MGate Installing ELI Link Make sure you set the UAC settings to Never Notify. This setting must be left at Never Notify for Eli Link to install properly and to operate as designed. ELI Link Status Information After a reboot of the computer there will be a Mortara Logo on the Task bar… Mortara Logo If you place the cursor over the logo you can determine if ELI Link is running Accessing ELI Link Configuration Right click on the Mortara Logo to access the following options: •Display Configuration •Displays the configuration screen •Start ELI Link •Starts the ELI Link Service if it has been stopped •Stop ELI Link •Stops the ELI Link Service •Exit •Displays the following message: About ELI Link Custom ID’s ELI Link allows the user to create their own custom ID (CID) for printing and demographic entry. If a CID is created there are 2 parts that need to be created: •Print Format •LCD Format Note: Both formats must be created! Reasons for the two different formats… 1. The electrocardiograph printer has a limited space for printing the demographic information 2. The LCD has a larger space for entering information NOTE: ELI Link allows only 1 Custom ID format! Accessing the Custom ID Print/LCD From the ELI Link Configuration screen select the Custom ID Print or LCD button Default ELI Link Custom ID ‘Print’ Note the Row and Column format… Custom ID ‘LCD’ Making changes to the Custom ID Start with changing the Print custom format. Changes to the Print format will trickle to the LCD custom format If a field needs to be added select the Add Field button If a field needs to be removed select the Remove Field button Notes: 1. The following fields MUST be present in a CID: • Patient Last Name • Patient ID • Patient Age • Patient Gender Note: Labels can be changed 2. Certain field options have specific lengths that must be adhered to… Examples: • DOB: 10 characters • Patient Gender: 7 • Patient Age: 3 •There are more… CID Field Lengths Last Name (20) Weight (3)** Location (7) First Name (20) Date of Birth (10)** Room Number (5) Middle Name (7) Medication 1 (20) Diagnosis (23) ID Number (23) Medication 2 (20) Reason Code (4) Secondary ID Number (23) Systolic BP (3)** Comment (20) Social Security Number (11) Diastolic BP (3)** Note 1 (23) Age (3)** Referring Physician (23) Note 2/LCD Request (23) Gender (7)** Attending Physician (23) Race (17)** Overreading Physician (23) Height (3)** Technician (7) Entries in red are required fields Maximum values listed in ( ) ** - Field lengths MUST be this size! Creating a Custom ID Step 1 Planning. Plan what the CID should contain • What Fields are needed • Remember the 4 required fields • What labels do you want for the fields • How long should the Field data lengths be? • Remember certain fields require a specific length • Map out what the printout will look like. • Map out what the LCD should like Note: Both the Printout and LCD formats are mapped using a row and column format for the field name and the data location. NOTE: Data entry on the electrocardiograph, once the CID has been downloaded, will follow the Custom ID Print format and not the LCD format. Creating a CID ‘Print’ Format Step 2 Clear the existing CID Delete the existing fields by highlighting the field then selecting the Delete Field button Creating a CID ‘Print’ Format Step 3 Start adding the fields Start adding fields that you want Remember the 4 required fields for any CID Creating a CID ‘Print’ Format Adding Fields window B A C D E F H A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. G Select a field type from the drop down list. Enter a Label for the field Enter the Row that the label will placed on Enter a Column for the Label to be placed Enter the Row that the will placed (Should be same row as the label) Enter a Column for the data is to be placed Enter the Data Length (refer to table CID Field Lengths) Select the OK button Creating a CID ‘Print’ Format, cont. When the OK button is selected the Custom ID Print window will display the information. Completed CID ‘Print’ When done entering all the field information select the OK Button Creating a CID ‘Print’ Format, cont. When done entering all the field information select the OK Button and the following message will be displayed: To accept the changes select OK. To reject the changes select Cancel Note: Selecting the Cancel button will return you to the Custom ID Print window. Creating a CID ‘LCD’ Format From the ELI Link Configuration screen select the CustomID LCD button Creating a CID ‘LCD’ Format, cont. Add Field button missing The Custom ID LCD window will be displayed. Note that the displayed format matches the Custom ID Print format and that there is not an Add Field button. Creating a CID ‘LCD’ Format, cont. If the LCD format matches what is required select the OK button. If the LCD format does not match requirements use the Edit field button to move the field and field data to the desired location. For example: The end user wants the MR# entered first, then the Given name, First name. Also note that the WGT data field goes past the 30 column position. In this case the DOB field and the Age field will need to be moved temporarily to make room for the MR# Modifying a CID ‘LCD’ Format Move the DOB and Age fields… Modifying a CID ‘LCD’ Format, cont. Move the MR# field up… Modifying a CID ‘LCD’ Format, cont. Replace the DOB and Age field… Modifying a CID ‘LCD’ Format, cont. Move the HGT & WGT fields… If all changes have been made select the OK button NOTE: Data entry on the electrocardiograph, once the CID has been downloaded, will follow the Custom ID Print format and not the LCD format.
