Newsletter # 7
May 2017
HELLO DUNLOP FAMILIES!
Welcome to May! The next two months are going to very busy with all the many activities we have going on,
from barbeques, to EQAO, to the student survey, to leaving ceremonies. We will as always be grateful for the
support of our parents and volunteers in helping us with many of our activities. Keep an eye on the calendar on
our website: we add events as they are scheduled.
________________________________________________________________________________________
PLEASE HELP US TO KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE by not driving
into the parking lot or bus drop off area before or after school.
We need our staff to be supervising children before school; as a result
we are counting on parents and drivers to respect our rule to stop on
the street if dropping off children at the front of the school.
Dunlop Family Barbeque
Thursday, May 25th
Please Plan on Attending!
PLEASE CONTINUE TO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Spring? Is that you? Although it is officially spring, there are days when
one wonders if anyone has informed the seasons that they have changed
and that warmer weather is supposed to be with us now. As always, it is
important to make sure that your son/daughter comes dressed for the
weather, prepared to spend up to 25 minutes at a time outdoors enjoying
whatever weather comes our way! That might mean rain gear or thin mitts
to keep fingers warm as we await the better weather.
School Council
The final meeting for this school year will be on Wednesday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. Please consider joining us.

For a sixth year, Ottawa Public Health has partnered with sports retailers
across Ottawa to bring residents a discount on helmets. Helmets prevent
serious brain and head injuries by absorbing the force from a fall or hit to
the head. Helmets are recommended for activities like skateboarding,
rollerblading, biking, sledding, skating, skiing and snowboarding. In Ontario,
it is mandatory for anyone under the age of 18 to wear a certified helmet
while riding a bicycle (Highway Traffic Act).
The Retailer Helmet Weekend Discount is May 13 & 14, 2017. Please share
this information with parents.
