Invitation Canadian Forces Base Borden & The Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) for Ontario Request the Pleasure of Your Company For a visit to Canadian Forces Base Borden in Borden, ON Wednesday, 26 July 2017 8:00 am – 5:00 pm RSVP to: Richard Slowinski [email protected] 416-970-6115 1/5 CFLC Executrek: Canadian Forces Base Borden, 26 July 2017 1. What is The Canadian Forces Liaison Council? The Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) is a national organization comprised of senior executives within the private and public sectors who volunteer their time to encourage employer/educator support for the Reserve Force. The CFLC objective is to raise awareness among organizations and show how they can benefit by employing reservists and take advantage of the special leadership and skills training reservists receive. We hope to educate employers of the special needs that reservists have to enable them to fulfill their military obligations and attend training courses. To do this, we organize a number of “Executreks” each year to which we take small groups of senior executives to see and meet reservists in action. 2. What is an ExecuTrek? An ExecuTrek is a trip to a military base, ship or unit to observe members of Canada’s Reserve Force in action. Reservists are men and women who have decided to join Canada’s Army Reserve, Royal Canadian Navy or Royal Canadian Air Force Reserve as a second, parallel career. Many are employed in civilian jobs, but many are students in high school, university or in a community college program. The ExecuTrek Program gives employers, supervisors, educators and human resources professionals a firsthand view of the quality of military training and the benefits that organizations can gain from that training: trade skills, general work and management skills, values, work ethics and much more. This one day ExecuTrek to be held on 26 July 2017 and will visit Reservists training at Canadian Forces Base Borden. As Borden is a major training base and home to the Canadian Forces Support Training Group there are significant numbers of Reservists engaged in career advancement and skills development courses on the base. This visit will expose you to the environment essential to developing highly skilled employees and team players, attributes that can benefit your organization. 3. Why are we conducting this ExecuTrek? Capable, dynamic people are a most valuable asset in a modern, successful society and can be increasingly hard to find. If you are an employer in the private or public sector, perhaps you have a need for people who are team players, leaders or future managers? Do you need people who can think for themselves and solve problems? Do you need people who thrive in today’s stressful business and educational environments and – above all – are loyal, dedicated and highly motivated? If so, then you should consider attending this ExecuTrek to allow us to tell you more about the CFLC and about Reservists. 4. What will you see and do? You will interact with Reserve soldiers as they engage in the training necessary to allow them to develop professionally in their specific trade, and to prepare for advancement in their military career. It is an opportunity to understand the military core values, training and skills that can be transferred to many civilian applications. As well, you will have the opportunity to engage in several hands-on military 2/5 activities that will enable you to experience in a small way the teamwork and dedication required of soldiers in a training and operational environment. 5. Who will be attending? You will be part of a small group of Canadian business leaders, executives, managers and educators invited from the private and public sectors. Preference will go to those in a position to influence the hiring of reservists at some time in the future or to adapt supportive HR policies. 6. What should I bring and how should I dress? The event goes rain or shine, so keeping that in mind the preferred order of dress is outdoor wear, comfortable and durable – don’t forget comfortable footwear and a hat, as most of the activities will take place outdoors on the base. A day pack with any additional outer wear (ie. rain jacket or wind breaker), a water bottle and any additional personal items (ie. required medications) is advisable. Cameras are encouraged. Please bring business cards, (include your e-mail address) and a copy of your company’s military leave policy, if one exists. 7. What will it cost?
