Teacher’s Spooky Notes
I hope you enjoy using this game with your students.
1.To start, you will need to run off enough copies of the game for
your students to be in pairs. If you have an extra student, I usually
have 3 in a group and have two students be the even and one by
the odd for example.
I have also provided you with little reminder sheets and an
answer key to have your students use if you so desire.
2. You will need basic “markers” to have your students cover the
pumpkins.
You could use some fun, small cereal pieces. Candy is also an idea
but be sure it won’t melt and become messy with the game. You
can laminate the game boards or put them in a sheet protector.
3. Read the Teacher Directions for the game. I have added a
variation of the game which you can choose to do or not. Cards
must be mixed up. There are duplicates. If you feel it would
confuse your students or that reading would make this difficult ,
then maybe it would be a good idea to omit it.
4. I always tell my students to be sure to check over their adding
carefully and if partners do not agree, to see me to make the final
decision.
5. . The winners can get some type of reward from you if you wish

Teacher Directions
for
the
Game
1. Each partner rolls a pair of dice and adds them together to
see who’s sum is the highest. The “winner” gets to choose
whether they are the odd or even ghost and they go first.
2. Each person rolls the dice and adds them together. If the
sum is an odd number, the odd ghost gets to put a marker
on the pumpkin . If it is an even number, the even ghost
gets to put their marker on a pumpkin. It makes no
difference on who rolls. Whatever the sum turns out to be
when it’s rolled, that’s who gets to put their marker on the
pumpkin.
3. Variation of the Game: If you roll a sum of 5 or 6, mark
your board accordingly first, then the “roller” must take a
Boo card and follow the directions.
4.The first ghost to “get to the haunted mansion” by marking
all of their pumpkins and the mansion(it is a space) is the
winner!
