Derby Rules and Format - Kirkland Sports Performance

Welcome to the 2017 Wiregrass Home Run Derby
The 2017 Home Run Derby is open to all Current High School Baseball Players
Players can use BBCOR Bats ONLY*
*use of any other bats will result in disqualitifaction from the event.
Derby Format
The 2017 homerun derby will consist of five rounds in which players are eliminated after each round.
ROUND ONE
(elimination)
All players will have 10 (ten) outs to hit as many home runs as possible. An out occurs on ANY SWING taken by the
player that does NOT result in a home run. Home Runs DO NOT COUNT as outs. The players with the top 16 homerun
totals will advance to the 2nd round. In the event of a tie for the last remaining spot(s), tied players will be awarded 3
(three) additional outs to determine the remaining spots. Homeruns hit in tiebreakers DO NOT carry over to round 2.
ROUND TWO
(elimination)
All players advancing to round two will again have 10 (ten ) outs to hit as many homeruns as possible. The homerun
totals from the 1st round DO CARRY OVER and will be added to the total for the 2nd round. The players with the top 8
homerun totals will advance to the 3rd round. In the event of a tie for the last remaining spot(s), tied players will be
awarded 3 (three) additional outs to determine he remaining spots.
ROUNDs THREE, FOUR & Championship
(head to head)
All homerun totals are cleared. Players are seeded 1-8 based on their total number of Homeruns through the first two
rounds. (tiebreaker for seeding purposes will be 1. number of homeruns in round 1, 2. (coin flip) Players will compete
directly against one another in the following bracket format. Players will each have 10 (ten) outs per round.
Tiebreakers during bracket play will consist of an additional 3 (three) outs for each hitter, and will continue until a
