Individual Possession KS2b Organisation: Ideas on what to do next: Making changes: • One side of the shape could be left unguarded to guarantee success. • Defenders can work with a ball. • Defenders try and change positions between the inside and out. Easier for some: • Let them start the practice using the ball in their hands. • Create safe areas to allow for thinking time. • Reduce the complexity of the challenge. Harder for some: • Give them their own defender. • Challenge them to beat a player on their own using different skills each time. • Get them working against another player to increase the level of competition. How to get started: • Set up the practice as the diagram shows above. • Add guards/defenders (red) with a ball and challenge them to guard the gates, centre circle and around the outside. • Challenge the players (blue) in the centre to escape through a gate by changing the direction they are travelling and the speed that they are moving. Once they have escaped through a gate, try and get past one of the waiting guards/defenders before attempting to come back into the practice and attempt to get through the centre circle. • After two minutes change the guards/defenders. Endorsed by Your ideas: Questions: • How can you use a variety of different skills and techniques to beat a player? • What will help you to achieve this? • What makes this harder? • How do you remain in control of your ball when you do this?
