Year 3 & 4 Homework English: Maths: Autumn 1 We are reading ‘The Green Ship’ by Quentin Blake this term. How it works: You can choose a combination of the tasks on this sheet to try to collect as many points as possible. You need to score at least 15 points and they have to come from a variety of subjects. Throughout the summer Mrs Tredegar and the Bosun and the two children sail the Seven Seas visiting exotic faraway places and having wonderful adventures. Produce an information leaflet about ships. (5 points) Imagine you are on holiday somewhere exotic. Send a postcard home. (3 points) The ship in the story is really in the garden, made from trees, bushes and the garden shed. Write a description of something in your garden or the local park, which could be used as something else. (5 points) How much? (3 points) Sophie has five coins in her pocket. What is the greatest amount she can have? If all the coins are different, what is the greatest amount she can have? What is the least amount she can have? Is it true? (2 points) Miss Powell said “if you add 6 to a number ending in 7 you will always get a number ending in 3”. Is she correct? Explain your answer. A creepy crawler (3 points) - Insects have 6 legs and spiders have 8 legs. If there were 30 legs in total, how many insects and how many spiders might there be? Is there more than one answer? How many insects and spiders would have 38 legs? Science/Topic: History: This term we are studying the Anglo-Saxons. Choose a plant to research. Create a poster about your plant - you could include a drawing or diagram. (5 points) Write a story from the point of view of a blackberry seed! (5 points) Draw and label an Anglo-Saxon warrior. (3 points) Write a description of village life in Anglo-Saxon times. (4 points) Art and Design: Draw a circle using a large plate to draw round. Create your own Anglo-Saxon design inside. (3 points) Please ask if you need any help or if you need to borrow anything from the classroom to help (e.g. paper, colouring pencils etc.) You must have completed (and handed in) at least 5 points worth of work by 23rd September, a further 5 points by 7th October and your last 5 points by 21st October.
