How has the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect affected the demand for corporate actions data? Zhongyu Zhang: The Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, which launched on 17 November 2014 allowing investors to trade on both stock markets, is creating huge opportunities for global investors. We are already seeing more and more data requests and activity from both domestic and international investors. Harry Rana: In addition to increasing trading volumes, the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect also gives foreign institutions and individuals an alternative method of entry into Chinese markets. Hong Kong is a relatively mature market when it comes to corporate actions types, and this maturity should also inform Chinese issuers as to potential corporate actions that can be announced on listed instruments. An increase in the number of interested parties, as well as a potential increase in corporate actions volumes and complexity will lead to an increase in demand for corporate actions data. Zhongyu Zhang: Firstly, by integrating Wind Info’s data into SunGard’s XSP solution suite, more investors, especially Chinese overseas investors, have access to the most comprehensive Chinese data. Secondly, this joint offering provides a cost-effective and simplified solution for existing and potential customers of SunGard’s XSP because firms only need to deal with one format and one process.
